October brings six hotels that are opening their doors to furry guests for the first time. From the heart of Texas to central Michigan, Fido can rest his paws at these newly pet-friendly accommodations across America this month.

Posh pups searching for boutique luxury in downtown San Antonio will feel right at home at Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk. Elegant, apartment-style rooms and suites feature hardwood floors, custom couches, fully stocked wet bars, marble-tiled bathrooms with spa-like showers and floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning city views. Dine on fine cuisine at the on-site restaurant, exercise in a state-of-the-art fitness center, enjoy an evening cocktail at the rooftop lounge and relax in a pool deck private cabana.

Fido can play off leash three blocks away at Madison Square Dog Park. Doggie drinking fountains and benches are provided.

Nestled steps from the beach beneath a serene tree canopy, Sea Cottages of Amelia is a quiet dog-friendly getaway. Bright and airy studio and one-bedroom cottages are outfitted with hardwood laminate flooring, living areas with sleeper sofas, kitchenettes with full-sized refrigerators and microwaves, a dining table and chairs, and private bathrooms. Parking and high-speed internet are available free of charge. There is also a garden on the property for pup walks.

Located two miles away, Main Beach Park is the perfect spot to toss a Frisbee to Fido.
