Pet-Friendly Hotels to Love in the West

With a vast array of beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities, the Western United States is a popular destination for two- and four-legged travelers seeking adventure. This vast region also boasts a collection of hotels that deliver VIP treatment to furry guests. From the sun-soaked streets of Southern California to the majestic spruce forests of the Pacific Northwest, here are eight of the most pet-friendly hotels in the West.

1. Hotel Nikko

Located a block from Union Square at the edge of the city’s historic Theater District, Hotel Nikko San Francisco specializes in spoiling pooches. Furry companions will be greeted by the gracious and adorable Buster, the hotel’s Canine Operating Officer, who has been warming hearts since 2015. Pups are given a cozy bed, fancy feeding bowls and tasty treats during their stay. You can also sink into a cushioned lounge on the rooftop terrace while Fido plays in the attached artificial turf dog run, complete with waste station, water bowls and toy chest.

Don’t leave Frisco without a visit to Baker Beach, located 5 miles away from the hotel. Dogs can frolic off leash in the sand with the Golden Gate Bridge providing a postcard-perfect backdrop.

Hotel Nikko San Francisco welcomes one pet up to 50 lbs for an additional fee of $50 per night, and one pet over 50 lbs for $200 per night. Rates start at $185 per night.

2. Delano Las Vegas

Shimmering in the sun on the south end of the Las Vegas strip, Delano Las Vegas makes every Very Important Pet feel like a high roller. Guest dogs receive a Buddy's Box welcome package that includes treats, toys, stylish bandana and clean-up bags. Pooches can feast on a Doggie Delights room service menu consisting of mouthwatering offerings like canine scramble and bow wow burgers. Pups will also be pampered by Delano's one-of-a-kind Doggie Butler Service that provides in-room treat delivery, fresh bowls of water, daily brushings and trips to the on-site AstroTurf dog run.

When you’re not courting Lady Luck, let Fido catch a frisbee or make new friends at one of Sin City’s many dog parks.

Delano Las Vegas permits two dogs with a combined weight up to 100 lbs for an additional fee of $100 per pet, per night in Standard rooms, and $150 per pet, per night in Suites. Rates start at $99 per night.

3. L'Auberge de Sedona

Nestled on the serene banks of Oak Creek in the shadow of the towering sandstone buttes of Bear Wallow Canyon, L’Auberge de Sedona is an opulent desert hideaway in the heart of Red Rock country. Each pet-friendly cottage is outfitted with a welcome kit featuring comfy beds, feeding bowls, yummy treats, entertaining toys and waste bags. You and your furry adventurer can also book the Red Rocks & Ruff one-night stay package that includes a gift bag of treats and toys, a L'Auberge leash and collapsible water bowl, and a $50 dining credit. Leashed pups are permitted to explore the numerous hiking trails on the property and cool off in the tranquil creek waters.

Fido can chow down on chicken apple sausage and other tasty morsels from the canine menu at the nearby Open Range Grill & Tavern. After fueling up, take your well-behaved dog off roading on one of seven Safari Jeep Tours that navigate the desert canyons outside of Sedona.

L'Auberge de Sedona accepts two dogs up to 50 lbs for an additional fee of $35 per pet, per night, and two dogs over 50 lbs for an additional fee of $50 per pet, per night. Rates start at $339 per night.

Your Tom Cruise of Corgis or Jennifer Lawrence of Labradors will receive A-list treatment the moment they set paw inside the elegant W Los Angeles West Beverly Hills. Upon arrival, visiting pups can please their palates with tasty W treats before being lavished with amenities once they enter their sleek, sophisticated room. Fido will feel right at home with a plush doggy bed, fun chew toys, food and water bowls with floor mat, custom W ID tags and clean-up bags. Canines are even allowed to chill on the poolside patio at The Hideout, one of the W’s on-site restaurants.

Leave the lap of luxury for a few hours and “ruff” it along the dog-friendly walking and hiking trails of Franklin Canyon, located only 4 miles from the hotel.

W Los Angeles West Beverly Hills welcomes two pets up to 60 lbs for an additional fee of $50 per night, plus a one-time $100 cleaning fee. Rates start at $228 per night.

5. Dossier Hotel

Dossier Hotel makes the perfect downtown basecamp for exploring all the canine adventures Portland has to offer. Comfy pet beds, feeding bowls with mat and yummy welcome treats will be waiting in every pet-friendly room. Hungry pups can order breakfast, lunch and dinner from the room service pet menu, and even attend the daily craft beer happy hour to sneak a snack or two. If you’re in the mood to expand your knowledge, peruse the dedicated pet section in the lobby library, where titles on dog massage, Doga and pet psychology are available.

While you’re in Portland, bring Fido on a 3.8-mile trek through the lush fir forest of Tryon Creek State Park, and comb the dog-friendly beaches at Sellwood Riverfront Park.

6. The Heathman Hotel Kirkland

Located on the Lake Washington waterfront 7 miles from downtown Seattle, The Heathman Hotel Kirkland pampers four-legged guests with warm hospitality and first-rate amenities. Every pup receives a plush bed to ensure a good night’s sleep, food and water bowls in the room and a signature welcome treat prepared by the hotel’s personal chef. The hotel’s package of pet perks includes a cozy bed fit to your pup’s size, a brand new travel bowl to take home as a gift and a bag of organic treats for Fido’s snack time. Leashes and collars are also available to use if needed. Pet massages, expert grooming and dog walking can be arranged through the concierge for an extra fee.

If you need to stretch your legs, take your pooch on a lengthy 8.5-mile hike along the scenic Deschutes River Trail that winds through the heart of Bend.

8. Inn of the Turquoise Bear
