I have a mostly retired 11yr old Service Dog and have been with my wife for just over 17yrs. Gleefully Married for 11.
Finnegan, my Service Dog, has severe arthritis but still thinks he’s a young dog so, I take him out to “work” to help him feel connected with me. We’re not ready for his replacement yet as we’re currently in an apartment unit we find our Home.

Beach

My dog Loves to swim & this seems to be the only leash free option. The beach itself is gravel and rock. There are a few shady spots but not many so bring your own chairs, water, & shade. They do have waste bags but not on the actual beach, they’re up by the stairs for the pedestrian bridge.
The Chambers Bay website says to go at low tide so there’s more “beach” but that didn’t work for us. My pup wants to swim & play in the water so the extra exposed beach was actually a hindrance for us. The rocks exposed during low tide are covered with barnacles. The tide pooling was neat but the barnacles cut my dog’s paws. The rocks where the high tide mark is don’t have barnacles. We’ll try again at a different tide level. The park warns that some parts of the beach are
Inaccessible at high tide
The only other thing to note is that it’s a fairly long walk from the parking lot to the beach. There’s a porta potty just before the ped bridge but I don't remember seeing water fountains on the path. There is a public bathroom next to the parking lot. The paths are all paved & well maintained. Once you step off the ped bridge, it’s beachfront.

Huge 3 fenced areas

There's separate areas for large & small dogs, there’s water & waste bags in both. Both r essentially fields w/ a walking track around the perimeter. the small dog area is pretty big & has a covered seating area for the Humans.
The large dog side has 2 sections, a covered seating area, & benches.
At the far side of the enclosures is the entrance to the trail portion of the dog park. Loads of trees, benches, & a few separate trails that interconnect with 2 entry points. The 1st is from both dog sections & the other is at the other end of the big dog section. There’s no water or waste bags in this section.
