I'm from the Midwest, but found this spot when I came to Austin with my pup a couple of years ago. We came out of our way on a road trip to Big Bend to visit it again and he got SO excited when we pulled into the lot. Go early for easy parking. My dog doesn’t like to swim, but be careful if yours does!

Closed canyon was a delight. My pup loved seeing the other dogs in the trail almost as much as he loved sniffing everything.

Clean beach with great sand, but it’s super small and dogs have to stay on leash. Not big enough to take your dog for a walk.
