Better than nothing?

The only reason I stayed was that all other hotels and motels that allowed pets were sold out for the college graduation weekend. The room assigned to animals had no carpet but the floor was so filthy, there was no way to walk around without at least socks on your feet. The beds were weird and there was strange writing on the walls. A lot of day laborers were staying there and they partied into the night. The only good thing was that the staff was pleasant, but the grounds were unkempt with cigarette butts everywhere. We stayed out of the room as much as possible.

REQUEST FIRST FLOOR IN ADVANCE

Quality Inn & Suites Gallup I-40 Exit 20

The hotel and room was clean enough and satisfactory, and offered a light breakfast, but heads up, when booking through BringFido, I assumed I would get a room on the first floor. After explaining to front desk staff that I have a bum knee and a dog that I need to take in and out of the room 2 or 3 three times during the stay (and I’m 65 years old I don’t want to carry my luggage and cooler up and down stairs), I finally asked for a manager who was kind enough to search hard and find an accommodation on the first floor which was soooo appreciated! I was surprised they don’t have rooms set aside specifically for people with animals, and on the first floor, so be sure to add that to your room request. For a “pet friendly” advertisement, there was nothing available to accommodate my pet, unfortunately.

Great Room!

Stilwell Hotel

After making a reservation, I was offered a complimentary upgrade, to Room 35! There is a Bar sink and refrigerator and microwave in a separate room. It’s a
large square footage room with windows on three sides and a fireplace. Also, Extremely clean! There’s a Table by the door and another small table between two chairs on the opposite wall. A Small TV and a large fan in the closet. There’s a Gate next to the room that opens onto the street and a Large parking lot. Also, a Barnyard door for receiving the breakfast service tray! Lots of fruit on that tray each morning! The room is located at the end on the Bottom floor. Across the street is Casanova (a very old and romantic restaurant). There’s a deli a half block down and the Hogs Breath is 1/2 block down the street. Also, a really nice and welcoming Italian restaurant called Giovanni‘s one block down. I found it very Pet friendly! Staff was very welcoming.
