Waterfront deck
The Lighthouse Restaurant and DockbarSeafood (mostly) restaurant with large cocktail menu. Dog friendly deck overlooking the water and harbor. Lots of outdoor seating.
Dog friendly is an understatement
BURLY Brewing CompanyEver been to a brewery that has BLANKETS for your dog to lay on?? Dogs are welcome inside and out. Water bowls and treats are also available, the bartender was super nice and inclusive of the pups. They also have a large beer selection. The interior has lots of windows so lots of natural light, clean and casual rustic decor. Most days they have a food truck outside. Will absolutely return when in the area and recommend.
Location in the heart of downtown
The Maple LeafUpscale menu offerings with extensive drink menu. Friendly staff, middle of downtown with good location and people watching
Has just about everything you could want
Marda Loop Brewing Company Inc.LOTS of outdoor seating, beer was good, and food was delish too (fish tacos)! Pups were brought water. Seating outside is open seating. Situated in a trendy neighborhood right outside downtown Calgary. Would recommend and return.
Lovely garden setting
Cafe RegisBeautiful outdoor space to enjoy a meal with the pups. Service was great, and the food was YUM. I got the Rising which is an open faced sandwich with savory sauce and veggies. Will return and highly recommend!
Fun attraction with a great view
Fenelon Place Elevator CompanyUnique ride in the elevator. Had harnesses on my dogs and a tight grip as one side of the elevator does not shut during ride, elevator floor is not flat, and floor is slick for dog paws. Deck at top with great view of city and Mississippi River. Also a historic neighborhood to walk around in. Would recommend.
Just as title says- Path along river
Mississippi RiverwalkIt’s a sidewalk along the Mississippi River. Benches at intervals so you can sit and watch the boat traffic or look at the bridges. Technically there are sandy areas you could go down into the river but signs says no wading or swimming, and river does not seem clean enough to do this.
Cool place to visit
Living History FarmsNeat little town with greatly maintained or restored shops. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly (it was a hot day and they let us use their hose to spray down the dogs). You aren’t supposed to bring the pups into the buildings but most of them you could stand in the doorway with the dogs and see everything there is to see.
Good beer, nice patio, okay food
Lua BrewingLovely patio, good selection of beers, food is ok. Menu is a QR code which didn’t have the greatest descriptions of beer or food. The ordering process (via QR) was also several steps so you thought you had ordered another drink….waited….only to find out you had more steps to go. But it was a nice experience and staff was friendly so I would return and recommend.
Picturesque getaway in the corn fields
Justin Trails ResortVery dog friendly throughout the buildings and grounds. Great trails around property so pups could stretch their legs. Well kept grounds and cottages. Hosts are very helpful and accommodating. Great extras like local wines and snack trays. We stayed in the Sunrise Cottage which was updated and clean, two bedrooms with king beds, living room with fireplace (no tv). Outdoor, covered seating area with garden and cornfield views and grassy area. Felt like our own private backyard that the dogs could lounge with us in. Fun to birdwatch. Golf course throughout grounds.
Overpriced, outdated
Radisson Hotel Cedar RapidsTwo bones because the front staff was friendly and efficient. This hotel is vastly overpriced and in great need up updating or renovation. Restaurant and bar are closed on weekends so room service availability varies. Room is dated, fridge only upon request. Dog friendly so there’s that.
Average, wouldn’t come back
Brewsky's Food & SpiritsThe host seated us on the patio and we did not see a server until we went inside to request one. Patio is fine. It is covered and fitted with a few TVs. Patio is surrounded by a solid fence so you cannot enjoy the scenery or surroundings. Food is average chain restaurant pub food. Would not come back or recommend.
