Nice hotel, but lacking amenities

Banff Caribou Lodge and Spa

This hotel is about 6 blocks from downtown and offers room service from the adjacent Keg and free parking with complimentary coffee in the lobby until 11am. They also provide a pamphlet on what to do with your dog (grooming, walking, and daycare) along with patios that allow eating with dogs, and a pet bed in the room. These are all the pluses.

Dogs are not allowed in the room unattended or on the furniture. The pamphlet they gave to me upon checkout says that they give doggy treats, have toys and water bowls. None of these were offered to us, or in the room.

Above the amenities list an indoor pool. I didn’t see one, nor directional signs pointing the way. The hot tub was quite large with ample room with jets all around. It is closed for an hour midday for cleaning. It was a nice hotel, but kind of loud. Clean, pleasant and comfortable. But, due to the lack of stated amenities I would find somewhere else to stay

Gotta love it

Belltown Inn

The worst thing about this hotel is that parking is an open lot down the street, so I was a little wary leaving the hotel at 3am to get the car, but they had a security guard right outside the hotel and a key card was needed to renter. But, the positives more than make up for that one tiny negative.

The positives were a terrific dog park across the way. A darling little patio and an always open rooftop terrace. And coffee in the lobby. A terrific location with fabulous restaurants and bars and a pet store within walking distance and even umbrellas to borrow when the rain starts. Super clean and comfy rooms with free WiFi and a mini kitchenette. Thick towels in a charming bathroom.

And the staff? They were friendly, professional and helpful. I was holding my dog’s lease so I could only use one hand to fill the forms out when checking in, so the woman at the front desk, filled out the forms for me to sign. It’s little things like that, that show how thoughtful they are and will have me coming back.

Comfy and convenient

Grand Forks Inn

The hotel, unfortunately had its outdoor pool closed during the winter and since we came on Sunday, the hotel sushi/pho restaurant was closed. The room was immaculate and very pleasant and comfortable with parking right outside the rooms at no extra charge. Large flat screen tv and free WiFi with USB ports in the clock and by the tv. Free breakfast from 6-10. And gas stations next door and across the street make this hotel great for an economical place to stay with my pooch

Extensive Menu

Tang Vietnamese Restaurant & Bar

We stayed at the La Quinta across the way and were delighted to find this restaurant open late and allowed our pup to join us on the patio. We enjoyed pho and a rice dish and our pup was kindly brought a bowl of water to refresh himself.

Easy reservations through the app

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Vancouver Airport

I was able to book a last minute reservation for the hotel for an early flight through this and it was so easy. I didn’t have to worry about calling after booking to make sure we had one of their limited pet friendly rooms. The room was large and spotless, but nothing “extra” for the dog, like bowls for water and food. The room was on the fifth floor right next to the patio but it was locked so pup could not utilize it. Our flight was earlier than the start of the 6am breakfast, but they had coffee and vending machines in the lobby. They even had ramen!
