Amazing location!
Crooked Creek CampgroundWe absolutely loved our stay at Crooked Creek! The bathhouse is brand new. The dish washing slop sink has hot water ready to go, not like other places we’ve been. The laundromat there is new also. Our dogs had a great time in the creek! The mornings were amazing just sipping coffee by the creek watching the wildlife.
Amazing Location!
Pioneer CampgroundThe owners are super friendly! I’ve always wanted to camp here and would see the signs on the way to my dad’s hunting camp. We stayed for Christmas in July and had such a great time we booked another stay in September. The dog park has a 2 gate system and is set away from the sites so you won’t disturb people in the morning. It’s partially set with some tree over hang for shade. There’s bench and water spigot inside. The campsites are spaced out and mostly shaded. They sell cute custom bandanas at the gift shop.
Bear do roam freely, so use caution. My GSP and ACD love swimming at World’s End, which isn’t far from the camp. The shower house is dated but clean. I loved the fact they have a port-a-potty in the tent/cabin section so I can walk there and take the dogs to wait outside early in the am without waking my family up.
Food and river view
Skeeter's Pit BBQWe didn’t take our GSP this time, but will in the future to sit out doors. We’ve been going to Skeeters for 7-8 years now.
The food is pretty decent and full of flavor. The building and outside ate always clean.
I would consider bringing water and dish along for your dog.
The view of the river is nice.
Amazing coffee
Profile Coffee and RoastersGemma and I are locals and this has become our favorite spot.
Friendly and leashed pets are always welcome. There is also outside seating available. It’s close to Knoebels if you are camping in the area with your dog.
They make hand made egg sandwiches, not fast food style.
Tell them Gemma the pointer gave them a 5 bone review and sent you in!
Welcoming place for pups!
Knoebels Amusement ResortWe’re locals and visits almost weekly to walk in the morning before they open or Sunday evenings.
There’s plenty of shade to cool off, some creek spots along the pavilions to get some splash time in!
There are several fountains in the park if you bring a collapsing dish along. They even have disposable bags if you forget yours.
All the employees are usually happy to see Gemma and get some pats in.
There are several camp grounds near by that welcome friendly and leashed pets as well.
There’s an emergency vet (Watsontown) about 45 minutes away if you encounter any problems too. There’s a Pet Co or Martha’s Pet Supply in Bloomsburg about 15-20 mins if you need anything during an extended visit to the area. Both places carry higher end foods and toys/supplies.
Great Food
Purple ParrotWe didn’t take our GSP along but we ate here twice in August and the food was great. The atmosphere is fun and beach vibes. The staff were all friendly. My older kids loved the outside seating in the Sandy area. We’ll definitely go back in the future and hopefully bring our pup along.
Great Hoagies
Forksville General Store and RestaurantBig Mike’s never disappoints. Check their Facebook for up-to-date information on business hours. There are picnic tables outside for you to eat with your pet along the Loyalsock in the shade.
The only part difficult would be ordering food if you travel alone with your pup. My husband went in to order for the whole family while we waited outside.
State Park- so be prepared!
Cape Henlopen State ParkWe had a great time here. It is a state park, so there aren’t shops,
stores or “board walk.”
Dogs are not allowed on the trails and you have to pay a fee to enter.
Carry in, carry out for trash.
The staff at the booths will provide you with a map and dog rule pamphlet if you ask.
My GSP and family enjoyed our time there. Nobody gave us a difficult time at the fishing beach. We respected their space and just spent time digging and hunting for feathers.
Pack a picnic lunch and make sure you have hand wipes or sanitizer. The bathrooms were just port-a-potties and were not very nice. That’s my only complaint.
Great food
Crooked Hammock Brewery and Backyard Beer GardenWe didn’t have the chance to visit with our GSP in early August. I took my kids this past week during another family trip minus our dog. The food was great and did not disappoint! The atmosphere was amazing. My teens loved their burgers and the fries were awesome.
