A Must-Do for hungry folk and their dog(s)!

This quirky little 1912 saloon is a step back in time to when the sleepy little hamlet (population ~28), was once a thriving mining town of ~2000 people. With ample seating inside and outside (shaded tables in a gravelled courtyard out back), the cooks served up truly delicious food for hubby and I, and a bowl of water for our Jett-the-Wonderdog! There are grassy areas around to let your dog relieve themself, with lots of little Prairie Dog dens to pique their interest! A great place to stop!

Perfect Location Beside the Trans-Can!

This off-leash park is fantastic! It’s literally right beside the Trans-Canada Hwy. 17! Watch for sign 2 km ahead for Yellow Quill Provincial Park. Turn off to rOver an acre large, with washrooms, picnic tables, shade and garbage disposal.

Fabulous location near the river!

While not right on the water (hence no water view), this place is part of the Rideau Sports Centre and the “patio” is a wrap-around porch. Food was decent enough but service started out slow before getting better as time went on. The property is located on the Rideau River, along which there is a trail (“Rideau River Eastern Pathway”) through Rivierain Park which has a not large but handy off-leash enclosure with tennis courts, ball diamonds & Playground close by. A great spot to walk, play and dine along the river! There were 3 dogs on the porch at the same time as us and everyone seemed to love having them there.👍🏻

Huge Off-Leash Park

This dog park is huge, with both large and small dog enclosures. There are two picnic tables and a water dish to pour your water into. Unfortunately, there is NO shade in the off-leash areas, but because they’re up on a hill, there’s usually a breeze and it can be downright blustery on windy days! There is an unmarked lane way next to the Sumac Lodge Nursing Home property next door, where about 8 cars can park and then overflow just parks along the road. There are garbage bins on both sides, a man made pond with corner access just below the dog park where fido can cool off (but beware, the ponds gets thick with algae later in the summer). The trail system around the park is great but not a lot of shaded areas. You can park at the main park entrance (by playground equipment) and walk a trail to the off leash area (5 mins.), or park in the lane way mentioned above, which is closest. Enjoy! (we have a FB page called “Blackwell Dog Park Sarnia” for local info).

Best Dog Park EVER!

This place was amazing! We visited in summer of 2022 and the park is huge, with lots of open field space but also lots of trails in the forest, which is not a densely vegetated forest, so no need to worry about fido disappearing out of sight. Everyone we encountered was friendly and cheerful. There is a pond/small lake on site but not one you would want your pooch getting into as it's swampy. This was a fabulous place to visit and we'll definitely be going back when we next return to Ottawa to visit our son.

Excellent Location!

We visited Ottawa last week and rented an AirBnb about 50yds from this fantastic park on the riverfront! There is something for everyone: on-leash waterfront path on both sides of the river, + children's playground; tennis courts and open field. It's not terribly large and not an enclosed dog park, it's a park where well-behaved dogs can be let off leash, as long as they are not allowed near the children's playground. We would walk our Jett up to Bank Street and stroll where shops and eateries abound, then come back and let our Flat-Coated Retriever off-leash to get out her zoomies! Everyone we met in the park was wonderfully cheerful and friendly. A perfect spot!
