While the square is pet friendly, and dogs on leashes are welcome, owners should know that this District can get very, very busy on weekends! The brick pedestrian Avenue fills with shoppers, street performers, food booths, children, strollers, and especially pigeons! On a recent weekend when we were there, we saw scores and scores of pigeons descending on the market to pick up leftovers. Little kids were chasing them all around the square, and I couldn't imagine having our golden retriever there just quietly watching all this take place. Even the best trained dogs will have a lot of distractions, so use caution if you're dog is not used to bustling, busy, high traffic areas.
