Carvers Creek State Park is a hidden gem in Spring Lake tucked out of sight of busy traffic going to/from Fayetteville and/or Fort Liberty. Carver's Creek has dirt/sand paths that meander through wooded areas and around historic houses and a fairly new dock on the water. Trail paths are wide and clear of debris. The spot is popular with locals but never overcrowded. It is a favorite with dog owners. Generally owners with their leashed fur- buddies are respectful one another. I've never had a bad experience. You can easily get 3 miles in if you walk all the trails. There are picnic tables, benches, and trash cans. There is a restroom on site. There is non-potable water access. But you'll want to bring your own water to hydrate your 4-legged friend.
