I bring my dog to the Newington Dog park every day it's not raining. I can only rate the park itself and not the other dogs and their humans at the park. The park is on a quiet side street and is surrounded by an apartment complex, a nursing home and the old Newington children's hospital that's empty. There's not a lot of traffic to deal with and there's plenty of on street parking. It's divided into small/large dog areas with the large dog side being more than sufficient in size - the longest Chuck-It can't clear the park from end to end if that helps. There is some shade with a picnic table and a bench. While there are also plastic lawn chairs, I don't recommend sitting on those since they're used as target practice for the boys. Yes, it can get muddy after it rains but so does everything and it means I wear my wellies instead. The town mows the park regularly but any holes dug need to be filled in by the dog's human. Sadly, there is no water source at the park so it's BYOB - Bring Your Own Bucket of mocktails. If there was a fountain or hose, I would give 5 stars. There will always be humans and dogs that shouldn't be around others but, again, that has no reflection on the park itself. We love it there and have only had maybe 2 negative experiences. However, those were short lived and would never keep me from returning day after day. I've met some wonderful humans and dogs at the park who were very welcoming from the jump and we've become part of the community there. Come visit! We'd love to meet you!!
