Chrystal who just opened a new facility in midland and who I’ve worked with for a few years saved my aggressive, fearful pup who lacked confidence from being put down and now 2 years later he is eligible to be a service dog! My dog Geralt is a doodle now 4 years old. After working with two other trainers neither working out I met with Chrystal. She has helped me understand him with love, compassion and consistency in handling him I can take him anywhere. He is now my travel buddy, he will sit under a table for hours while I eat other friends, shop, hike, ignore other dogs while walking. Everyone comments on how well behaved he is! I have used this facility for boarding which is perfect. Thank you Chrystal for all you’ve done for my pup and I

I stay for a night this fall to hike and visit wineries in Charlottesville. My daughter recommend Oakhurst Inn so I gave it a go. I have an 75 pound poodle with me that was greeted by staff with open arms. The room was so comfortable and clean loved it! But there are 2 things that put the icing on the cake. It is located almost literally on the UVA campus which allowed me to walk the dog on a beautiful campus. Secondly the inn has a wonderful green space. After getting a glass of wine from the bar my pup and I were able to truly enjoy a very private area right in the middle of town! Will be staying at Oakhurst again!

The Jefferson is one of my favorite stops in Charlottesville. A quick drive from the Uni which is so lovely and relaxing. My pup and I are always greeted by the kindest staff! The vineyard does have a wonderful history starting with Jefferson! The patio is well done with local plants and umbrellas for shade. Each time we visit we sit in the shade, my pup enjoys the laid back vibe and I enjoy a glass of the Viognier steel.

I happened upon Eastwood Winery by chance this past week. Having stopped at the Jefferson Vineyard I queried them where I might find a close by dog friendly vineyard with excellent food. They directed me to Eastwood which I found delightful. The venue is absolutely perfect and very well attended! My pup was welcomed with open arms! Now as for the menu it was spot on in terms of selection and pricing. I ordered a blueberry flat bread and a glass of very good Cab which for Virginia can be unusual. There are a number of seating options with a dog, all outdoors but the one I sat at was a lovely porch. The food and drink were perfect for my late after noon lunch after hiking the Monticello trail. I will def be visiting the venue in the future as a go to moment while in Charlottesville!

The location is centrally located easy to get to wineries, breweries, and the University. None of these are within walking distance so a car is a must. Lovely personnel and such a reasonable fee to add your pup to a room!

I stayed here recently but would I consider them 100% dog friendly? Absolutely not. In a nutshell yes the dog room I was assigned to was actually lovely. Had direct access to the greens. so I loved this. However, dog friendly in Charlottesville means can you eat outside with your pup? Most of the the dog friendly places to include hotels, restaurants, breweries and wineries at a minimum will take your order while sitting outside at a table or allow you to bring your pup in to place an order. Boars Head does none of these. The long list of where dogs are allowed is almost everywhere except room and trails. There are 3 restaurants scattered throughout the 45 acres. 2 are actually located outdoors. NOPE no dogs allowed near any food areas. So keep this in mind it truly is not dog friendly
