Comfortable stay

The Best Western Plus in Marion provided a very comfortable overnight on a long drive from Texas to Indiana. Friendly check-in staff, comfortable bed, quiet room on the second floor, lots of grassy areas around the hotel for my dog’s comfort. Poop bags/waste can provided. Nice sized refrigerator/freezer in the room as well as coffee and tea service. Good restaurant choices nearby. Loved the festive decorations in the lobby. I make the Texas to Indiana to Texas drive regularly and am glad to break the trip at this hotel.

Friendly and Quiet

I arrived in the early evening to this very attractive hotel in the sawmill area of Albuquerque. There is convenient self- parking available in the back of the hotel. I was not comfortable walking my dog by myself after dark to Tigeux Park (6 minute walk from hotel), but there is a landscaped area (small stones and grasses) between the parking lot and the hotel that worked as a relief area for my dog, although it was not designated as such. A designated relief area with poop bags and a trash can is not provided at the hotel.

I found this hotel to be very clean and serene with a very pleasant fragrance in the lobby and my room. My room service dinner was not presented in the manner that I expected in this upscale hotel, and I wish there had been a few lighter dinner options in small portions (I was traveling alone) on the menu. My dog and I spent a restful night here. This is a mid-rise hotel (elevator necessary to reach room) in a downtown area which travelers with pets should take into account.

Oh dear…

I would like to recommend this historic and quaint hotel in downtown Alpine, however, I am unable to do so. The young person at the check-in desk was friendly to me and to my dog, and there my positive comments end. There is no designated pet relief area in or near this hotel. I was directed for this purpose to a patch of weeds across the street near the railroad track. There was no park across the street as mentioned in a previous review. There was an internal check-in problem concerning my room assignment and room rate that took quite some time to resolve.

Although they tried to be helpful, the check-in person was unable to direct me to a dog-friendly restaurant for dinner. The restaurant in the hotel was closed. I would expect the rooms in a 100 year-old hotel to be old-fashioned, however, the damp smell in the room and the peeling enamel (paint?) on the bathtub and sink were not acceptable. I decided to drive on to Fort Stockton for the night, adding an additional hour onto a very long day of driving. I try to support historic properties when I can, and I truly hope that the owners of the Holland Hotel will renovate this one and do more to make this property truly dog friendly.

Clean and bright

I found the Fort Stockton La Quinta to be very clean with well lit public spaces. The check-in procedure rather late on a Friday night went very smoothly. My room on the third floor was spacious and clean. I appreciated the coffee service in the room and the actual freezer space in the mini fridge. Two narrow, fenced dog runs are provided along with poop bags and a trash receptacle. My negative comment is that the soundproofing between my room and the adjoining room was nonexistent. I suggest asking for a room that is not an adjoining room or bringing earplugs.

Spacious and clean

Large dog park within a large pretty park. Plenty of shade and seating for humans. Clean. My dog enjoyed the agility area. Friendly, well-socialized dogs and attentive owners until that one dog arrived….

Great spot!

Wonderful lunch stop today at Billy Gene’s on the last day of a 4-day road trip from Los Angeles to Houston. Friendly, prompt service on the restaurant’s riverside, dog-friendly back porch. Water bowl provided for my pup. Nice folks and delicious, straightforward food. Recommend that you take Fido here!

Beautiful hotel

A lovely, luxurious and welcoming hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There was a dog bed and water bowl in the room. Parking was available a short walk from the ground floor room. My dog and I both enjoyed the private patio with a great view of the mountains. The landscaping at this hotel is fantastic. My dog was allowed to join me for a tasty al fresco dinner on restaurant’s patio, and a water bowl was provided for her. Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort is a very special place, and I look forward to staying here again the next time I drive West along the I-10.

South Rim Location

Old-fashioned “motor hotel” style lodge. I loved parking right outside my door. Simple but comfortable rooms and location can’t be beat for access to South Rim trail. I did have to change rooms twice — the first time because of a strong disinfectant smell in the room; the second time because of a noisy canine neighbor. But the staff could not have been more gracious or accommodating to my requests to move rooms. The coffee and tea in the room was a very welcome touch. The starry night sky in this remote location in the park was incredible, however, it’s a good idea to check in and find your room before nightfall. The lights by the hotel room doors are dim, and the parking areas are not lit.

Good Effort

The dog breed theme and treats in the lobby were a nice touch, and the staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. The pet friendly rooms are all on the first floor which is a safety concern for solo travelers like me and made for a noisy night as did the lack of soundproofing in the carpet-free room and loud AC unit. The fenced dog exercise/relief area is in need of a refresh and difficult to access across a ditch.
