PROS: Two enclosed dog parks, one for small dogs and the other for large dogs. Double gated, meaning the area outside the dog parks is enclosed and requires opening another gate to enter/exit. Both dog areas are located inside a larger, beautifully landscaped park (also fenced in). CONS: Both “parks” are solid concrete, with limited to no shade. Both parks have concrete platforms that are mostly way too high for dogs to safely jump off. That doesn’t stop them, of course. In just the few weeks that I have been taking my dog there I have heard 2 stories of serious injuries. One dog broke a leg after jumping off a platform onto the concrete, and another suffered a torn ACL when she jumped off & another dog followed, landing on her. I try to keep my energetic dog off the platforms but it’s not easy. While I am glad there is “someplace” nearby where I can let my dog off leash, this place is far from ideal. I can’t imagine who thought that type of design was a good idea. And the larger portion of One Bennett Park is off limits to dogs, with signs sending that message posted every few feet. So it’s disappointing, but there is no other option nearby in the Streeterville neighborhood.
