Our pup was greeted by the owner with a lot of love. Every staff that came out stopped to pet her. Put us specifically at a large table at the side so she felt safe and not surrounded. Owner brought her a Ben & Jerrys 'ice cream' frozen cup (after asking if it was okay). bent down to feed it to her and talk to her! Took a picture for me of her by the front of restaurant. Great food! Owner talked about his dogs and showed me pictures!

Wonderful check-in process. All the staff loved on our girl! There were a lot of restaurants in the area that were dog friendly.

Greeted with a dog bowl and milk bones. Given a ground floor room with sliding glass door out to the grass and pet walking area.

Great store and food. However, pet-friendly is a misnomer. You can sit outside at their tables on the street. This location is right across from the train station - turned into Visitor's Center - a few stores but industry and baren. The tables were 2 very small cafe' tables with 2 chairs next to the wall. Sidewalk is narrow so anyone walking by has to move into the street to get around. There is no shade or grass or trees. Chicken salad was good.

The park service has a lot of work restoring that area. The grounds are dog friendly - meaning you can walk with your dog. There is no water so bring your own - and it is a huge place. And bring dog-dung bags. No animals allowed in any buildings. We were there during record heat - not ideal!

Restaurants that said pet friendly were all outdoors - with little cover, fans, no dog bowls. Sidewalks very narrow for dog walking. Historic buildings were mostly closed - some just open doorways to look in. None allowed pets. A lot of walking on stones built into the rock, so makes sense, but unexpected. Lots of roughly built stairs, straight up and down. Hard for an older dog (and owners).

Quiet, spacious. Stayed in the Magnolia room. Plenty of space. Private french doors leading to the garden area. Perfect for taking pup out for walks. Did have to ask for a dog blanket - no animals allowed on furniture without their blanket. Hot breakfast on request. Plenty of food and coffee for continental breakfast. And a nice, quaint dining room. Dana was helpful. It is at the end of a historic neighborhood - nice grounds, but industrial area and railroad are in the very next block. Historic town of Appomattox is extremely small, not good for strolling. Seems to be struggling.

Very well maintained. Dog was treated well.
