Snarky staff
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Amarillo I-40 West TXUpon check-in, I requested a room on a higher floor and was informed that the hotel was fully booked, which is fine. At the end of check-in, I thanked the front desk worker, and she just stared at me without saying anything. After setting up my room, I went back to the front desk and asked the other worker if there was free breakfast. She said "yes" and nothing else, leading me to need to ask her what the hours were. She snottily read them off of a sign that I hadn't noticed because I was coming in from driving 10 hours and hadn't been to this hotel before.
The front desk worker in the morning was polite, however. The room was clean and smelled fine. There was a lot of area to walk the puppies and poop bags, so that was convenient. The breakfast had lots of options. However, the flavored coffee creamers hadn't been stored properly and had either completely evaporated (nothing in the closed container) or separated into oil and solid. I informed the breakfast attendant, and either she didn't understand me, already knew and couldn't do anything about it, or something else. I came back for another cup of coffee and the nasty creamers were still out. The cleaning staff were nice. The hotel itself was fine, but the staff were snarky, so I probably won't stay here again.
Good bargain but smelly
La Quinta by Wyndham FlagstaffThis is probably the nicest La Quinta I've stayed at. The room was large, breakfast was good, and there were multiple places to walk the dogs. Unfortunately, the room smelled of urine. I did tell one front desk worker, and she apologized and seemed genuinely embarrassed about it and said she'd tell her manager. I reiterated it to a different front desk worker upon departure (I didn't want to get charged for the smell), and she couldn't have cared less. I would stay here again, but I might ask to change rooms if I get another stinky one.
Bummer
Dark Sky Brewing Co.We must have come on the wrong night. This is actually 2 different businesses—the pizza one and the beer one, and they don’t seem to communicate well. Rather than the sun-filled front deck, we were directed to a sad back deck and sat next to some functioning industrial equipment and the parking lot with puddles. I grabbed a dog bowl myself and filled it using my water because it was summer and dry. No one told me about the two-sided pizza/beer menu, so I ended up annoying my already-annoyed pizza server by saying I hadn’t received a menu. Oh, la. The beer server was nicely attentive, tho!
Clean and friendly
Best Western El Rancho PalacioThe room was very clean looking and smelling. They gave us a second-floor room, which I prefer. The hotel is on a main road, and there’s definitely road noise, but the air conditioner blocked it out, and the front desk gave us a room at the back of the property. The front desk and cleaners were all very friendly, and there were some good hot and cold breakfast choices. I’d stay here again for sure.
Cigarette stinky room
SureStay Plus Hotel By Best Western HammondMy room was, I’m told, non-smoking; but it reeked of cigarette smoke. Motel overly close to freeway; can hear every truck that goes by. Some shady behavior at motel. I was glad to have a big dog.
Nice big room
Candlewood Suites Washington North an IHG HotelThey had free Christmas dinner the night I arrived. Room was big and clean. Grounds were clean; nice doggies from what I saw. No breakfast. Checkout staff were really nice!
Do you like nostalgia and also dogs?
Roadrunner LodgeThis place was such a treat. Furnishings and ambiance are vintage, and the doggie park is cute and clean. Room is clean and cozy. This is a motel, so expect some road sounds. Fortunately, since it’s on 66, most big rigs roll by on the (2 miles away) 40 west. Also, this is vintage cinder block construction, so there’s some “neighbor noise.”
More mildew, not very friendly
Quality Inn & SuitesPaid extra for a room with the jet tub because me back was aching from driving. However, when I got there, the jets were slathered in mildew with a rust circle around the drain. Ew. Rest assured that I did not elect to be part of that nasty stew. Also when we checked in, the desk attendant said about 2 words to me and then gave poor directions to my entrance, so I was wondering around from door to door before figuring it out for myself. They said that they had put some sort of solution in the tub that made the jets black and that they hadn't gotten around to changing out the jets yet. But, I do know from mildew, so I thought that was far-fetched, but I let it go. Then after I had that conversation with "Kiley," I saw her whispering about me to another employee, looking annoyed. Overall, I got the impression that it's a "local hotel for local people," if you get the reference.
Gross, Overpriced
Best Western Plus Springfield Airport InnPre-stained sheets, lampshade, chair. Nasty black mold/mildew in shower. Funky pong of cheap air freshener, possibly to mask the last time that the retro polyester bed coverlets were actually washed. For some reason, the two children on the other side of my connecting door were partying until midnight . Overpriced for what you get especially since you also pay $15/pet. I’m sure they’re spending that at the water park since it’s obviously not going into renovations. Only positive was the large, lit backyard for doggie poos. The front desk signed me up for the Best Western rewards plan without asking me. Don’t see myself partaking.
Nice place
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Albuquerque MidtownEcho the rough neighborhood: lots of curious people milling about at all times and probable drug use. Hotel itself is clean and welcoming and quiet. They do a good job with security, and there’s an inner courtyard for pups to poo. Grab n go breakfast was sufficient.
Sad New Law
Canteen Brewhousesays no dogs allowed at restaurants. but they were very nice about it!
A little gross
La Quinta by Wyndham Phoenix ChandlerThe lobby looks great. However, my room had a broken light switch, pink bacteria scuzz in the bathtub, and the shower water smelled like either rust or sulphur. Also no cold water; the cold tap started tepid and then for warm. My dogs wouldn’t drink it, so I relied on bottled water.
Rude Waitress
Roosevelt'sMy waitress was kind, but a different one purposefully rammed into my elderly dog because she was in the servers’ aisle. Waitress barely apologized. Food was ok but slightly overpriced.
Laid Back
The Wharf Bar and RestaurantThis place is so great! Laid back, kind to my two dogs. Somewhat reasonable prices for a popular destination town. Good tacos. Staff were so nice to my dogs.
Good For You And Dog
Brick Works Brewing and EatsAgreed that this place is extremely welcoming to dogs. We went in the side entrance. They brought us two different bowls of water, and the server remained attentive during the meal. Love the little side yard, too. We don’t live in the area, but we’d come back.
So Friendly
Irish Eyes Pub & RestaurantThey were so nice to me and my dogs. One of the servers came over with treats and fresh water. And returned with soft treats for my old girl who doesn’t have many teeth. Food is ok. But I’d rather come here again and be treated kindly than go to a snobby place where they treat me poorly (Gilligan’s).
