Designated “other” area for dogs

This winery looks gorgeous but their “pet area” is a small, full sun area with a couple of tables on the back side of the building. Would call it more “allows dogs” but with a lesser experience - there are several other choices that love and welcome dogs with a better set up and view.

Shady food and beer stop!

Old train station turned micro-brewery. They were so sweet to our pup! Seating is shaded but the restaurant is open air. You’re seated with menus, order at the bar, and food is brought to your table. Parking onsite.

Shaded outfield is a perfect dog patio!

Stopped in while traveling on a pretty warm day and was so pleased to find a fully shaded patio with fans and cold water dispensers! You do have to order inside - so having another human or leaving pup in car until ordered will be needed. Stromboli was yummy and beers were good!

They love patio dogs!

Stopped at Taproot twice on a recent visit to TC
- they have a shaded front patio and sidewalk seating on the side that's mostly shaded in the evenings. Servers were so kind and excited to see our pup - he was brought water both times.
There were multiple dogs on the patio anytime we were there or went by. Food was excellent and their ciders are great too!

Delicious brunch/lunch spot. Patio is partially shaded by mature trees.

Fun Food Truck + Bar spot

Several food trucks and a brick and mortar bar, with various seating (picnic tables, two seaters, benches, cocktail tables) and some shade available. The night we went had live music ($5 cover per human) and the band was great! This is a fun spot and there were several dogs there!

So dog friendly!

Cherry Republic is a great stop with a dog. On site is a restaurant, winery, ice cream stand and store. The grounds are shaded and dog friendly, as is the store. Food is great and there are dog bowls throughout.

Bark at the Park

Tuesday nights are Dog Friendly at the Traverse City Pit Spitters game! The dogs were warmly welcomed, there were water bowls throughout the stadium and a huge lawn that was great for the dogs. Everywhere except the team store was available to the dogs, the stadium is really nice and the Pit Spitters were fun to watch!

Dog Friendly Beach

Great stretch of beach with beautiful shoreline views. Parking is very close but the lot is small so it would be limited on a busy day. Water is a little rocky when you first walk in but clears shortly after. We were there on a hot, near 90° day in late June and water temps were still around 60°. Out pup loved swimming around and then drying out in the sand and sun!

Great Shady Spot

Gorgeous winery on Mission Point Peninsula - we stopped on the way back from the Lighthouse. It was warm, but they have ample shaded seating spots and even a few fans. The dogs were also allowed in their winery and store. Very friendly service!

The views!

The back patio and lawn are dog friendly! Back patio has gorgeous views over the lake, but limited shade (a couple of pergolas and umbrellas). Delicious drinks and cocktails.

The Beach is great here!

The Mission Point lighthouse is neat to see, and right on the 45 parallel (halfway between the North Pole and equator)! But the beach here is the real win! Very shallow waters allow you to walk out several hundred feet with only 2-3 ft deep waters. There’s also a sandbar and shell island you can walk to. The water are rocky so I’d recommend water sandals or shoes. Jude loved running and playing in the water here!

Empire Bluffs Trail and Lake Michigan Lookout

The best views! The Empire Bluff trail is a 1.5 mile out and back. The views at the end of the dunes and turquoise waters are breathtaking. Moderate inclines and mostly shaded, but a fairly doable hike for most folks and dogs. We also did the scenic drive through the park - there is a $25 NPS fee. The Lake Michigan outlook was truly amazing! Dogs are welcome at the top sandy area, but can not proceed down the very steep sand dune.

A Must See!

This garden is beautiful! So unique with amazing plants, sculpture and interactive buildings and adventures. Paved and gravel walking paths with some leading you over stone paths in the ponds.

Dog admission is $5 (tickets online are cheaper and easier than at the garden). The walking tour is self guided and you can choose how you want to wind through the park. It took us ~2 hours.

There were water fountains available at the visitor center and each bathroom - I can easily recount seeing 3 or 4 throughout the park. Bring a water bottle and bowl and you’ll be set! Treats in the visitor center.

Dog Friendly on the Duck

The Duck Tour was head-out-the-window fun!

As others have said, we benefited from being on a not full tour. It would have been more cramped if we didn’t have extra seats by us for the dog, especially with a large dog. He loved quacking around town and we enjoyed the tour and jokes that come with the ride.

One of my favorite hikes!

The falls hike at Lake Catherine is one of my favorite hikes of all time. You can do a short trail to just the waterfall or the entire loop (~1.75 mile). We did the whole loop and loved the rocky waterscape as we slowly gained elevation. This brought us to the back side of the waterfall where you can overlook it. Waterfall was beautiful and had larger rocks to navigate walking into the pool area. Great for dogs that like to wade through the water.

Be a NPS Bark Ranger!

Enjoyed so much about this national park! The old bath house turned visitor center was a great stop to rest on the shaded porch and get water. There you can certify your dog as a BARK Ranger where the park ranger gives them a certificate!

Easy to walk the shaded promenade to see all the historic bath houses and make it to Arlington Park where you can see an actual hot spring! (Careful to not let the dogs drink the 143° water)

We hiked the Goat Rock trail which had beautiful views over the mountains. Many trails and maps available for other hikes.

Great Hiking and Farm Activities!

Willoughby Farm is a gem tucked into a neighborhood area in Collinsville - one turn and you’re on a large farm and forested area!

The farm is home to many animals you can see and visit. There’s also activities and farm equipment that kids, adults and dogs alike can enjoy. The back half of the farm are hiking trails of varying difficulty. Most are mulched and clear, but there are some hilly routes! Choose accordingly. Farm is cute around Christmas and you can see a large decorated tree inside the barn!

They love dogs!

One of our regular hangouts with the pup! They have a large back patio with tables and umbrellas for sunny nice days, the front patio is covered and heated making it perfect for rainy or colder days. The staff here is incredibly nice and service is always great. Food is upscale bar fare - wings are the best you’ll find! Your pup will be well loved here!

Dog Loving Brewery!

This place loves dogs! We were quickly seated and welcomed with a free bandana and bowl of water!

Callie, our server, was super friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and we enjoyed tasting several of the beers! Patio is a great spot to recharge after hiking the national park!

Dog friendly pizza and local brews!

Cool location - patio is a multi-tier deck that feels like you’re in a tree house along the bluffs just one block off Central!

Service was great and very excited to see our pup! We were quickly seated and brought a water bowl.

Pizza and salads were great. All drinks on the menu are made local.

Whimsical Dog Friendly Spot!

This patio is set back into the bluff behind the building and adorned with strung lights and beautiful plants!

The service was incredible - Hank, our server greated us with dog treats and water! We happened into a karaoke night on Thursday which was fun and entertaining to watch. Food was excellent too! Would recommend highly!

Great vibe, lots of dogs!

Very dog friendly, stopped here two nights while visiting SW MI and there were several dogs each night. Great drinks, live music and a food truck both days. They have a covered patio that would be good even on rainier days and a lot of picnic tables with umbrellas in the yard.

Haymarket Brewery & Taproom

Great stop to grab a beer

Haymarket has a nice patio with picnic tables and umbrella, plus a lawn with several firepits and lounge chairs. As others had mentioned there were a lot of kids around running pretty unsupervised through the lawn and woods despite the signs advising of poison ivy and to supervise children in the area. Would be a hard spot to take your dog solo as you have to order inside and dogs have to remain outside.

One of our favorite stops in MI!

We took our pup to Iron Shoe and everyone from the hostess to the servers were excited to greet and pet him, and they even brought him a plate of whipped cream! Food and drinks were excellent and the rooftop has nice views over the river and downtown area. Made for a great last evening on vacation - wish we had this spot at home it was so cute!

Great Dog Beach!

We took our golden retriever here over Labor Day weekend! Impressed by the amount of parking lots near the beach and the extensive stretch of beach that is dog friendly. It gets busy but there was a lot of room to spread out or walk the shore line. From the parking lot, you can hike a 2 mile loop with great views over the sand dunes. It was $11 to enter and we really enjoyed the park!

EDLEYS patio is such a great spot to take your pup! They lovingly greet our Golden Retriever everytime and bring water out for them. During colder months, their patio is enclosed with plastic walls but still dog friendly so it’s a great place to dine any season!

Not dog Friendly

This place does not allow dogs. We called to verify and were told they do not allow dogs because it’s obtrusive to guests.
