Very limited space for dogs

We came during the heat of a summer day. The sun was beating down. They have a few tables dedicated to canine lovers on the patio. Even with the umbrellas up, it would not have protected us from the sun. There was anoth3er area of the patio (not inside) where no one was seated. It had much more shade. But they said we had to be in the dedicated canine space. We considered eating there anyway but the help was slow to acknowledge us. They offered no adaptations. We'd have purchased it to go but given the general lack of interest in serving us, we left and went to another location on the Two Rivers list and were much happier. To be fair, I'm going the Food rating a good grade. I've rated the Value rating using the posted prices.

Great food, a couple of tables outside, pet-welcoming

It's easy to miss this little place. We only found it on the third drive around the building. It's basically a little (but I don't mean little negatively) addition to a convenience store/gas station. There are a couple of tables outside where dogs are welcome. The tables have umbrellas but it's not really well-shaded. We had left another well-rated Two Rivers location because there weren't many shaded tables (in truth, this wasn't much better). We were ready to go to the Golden Arches and get food to go. But, there was a remarkable difference in service, fresh food, and pleasantness. It was on Friday and they had the Friday Fish Fry basket. I hear tell that the good fish fries quickly run out of fish. The fires and cole slaw were much better than they had to be. We didn't end up eating on site. But, we'd have been happy to do so. There were lots of people coming and going. If we get back up to Two Rivers again, this will definitely be a first stop. We'd probably get the food to go, but eating on site would be okay, too.

Great food transported from Chicago to Texas

If you can get past the Italian Beef and Chicago Hot Dogs, you’re better humans than we are. Portillo’s has a great dog-friendly covered patio. Check it out!

Sandy’s Beach Shack

Literally right on Huntington Beach less that 75 feet from the Pacific Ocean, this seaside, dog-friendly restaurant could get away without putting any effort into the food or customer service. Especially in Thanksgiving Day. But, that wasn’t the case on Thanksgiving Day 2024. We couldn’t have had a better customer service experience: the sweet young lady who got us a table (I missed her name), our waitress Alexa (who gave us great recommendations), and the accomplished kitchen staff who transformed Sweet Potato Fries into objects of wonder. You CAN’T MISS the sweet potato fries. I’ve never had sweet potato fries like these. I have no idea how the made them. Perfectly and uniquely cut, they are at once crispy on the outside, sweet and creamy on the inside. We loved the chicken piccata with its slight, in-intrusive breading, and the sauce with capers. And, our dog sampled everything that was dog-friendly. She appreciated all the attention she got. Saturday and Sunday I think they have a brunch.

What a phenomenal, out-of-the-way place

I don’t know the history of Alamo Springs but I’m not sure it should work on paper. It’s all about love of affordable food, fun, kitsch, beer, and love. What is shrimp this good doing somewhere so far from a harbor? Why are the burgers so good? And how did this sprawling place with music all come together? I’m gobsmacked. You should go when you’re near Fredericksburg or the Hill Country.

Great, dog-friendly location

We really wanted a covered location to take our dog. I've never been to the UK, but this is sort of what I would imagine. It had been raining, and we wanted to keep the pup dry. This was perfect. Indeed, we could imagine going here during colder, inclement weather.

The food was good. We had fish and chips, wings, and pretzels (a different texture than the pretzels you might know, but delicious: they should consider making them into a dessert with brown sugar, cinnamon, caramel, things like that). There's better fish and chips in the region. However, these were solid planks of fish with a good (though perhaps overly thick breading). The fish was meaty, not mealy, unlike many other restaurants. They had a great selection of beverages. I enjoyed the Chimay. My wife had the house chardonnay. She said it was a really good chardonnay. We forgot to get the name. The wings were also a meaty version. While having good flavor, they were gentle with the sodium. The service was very pleasant. They gave our pup her water bowl, and we learned about our server's dogs. It was just what the Dogtor ordered.

Wagging Tail

The food was good. Lots of interesting drinks. My wife got a burger and I got fish and chips. Good, but nothing to write home about. The star of the show is that it’s dog-friendly in a big way. Other places give your dog a water bowl, but this place gives your dog a burger (for a reasonable price). And, they do it with sincerity. It’s a great place to meet. If the weather is nice, make reservations. Prices were reasonable. Overall, a very fun outing.
