The pros: cheap, no roaches, grassy areas for doing business (bring your own bags), doors open to outside, kitchenette with fridge/freezer, no carpet, seems relatively safe enough, five-minute drive from beach. They didn’t clean my room during my stay, which I liked, because it meant less potential coronavirus exposure.
The cons: Next time, I’d bring something to make white noise, because we could hear every little sound outside the door, so my dog kept waking up and growling. The nonsmoking room reeked of smoke; no towels or trash can when I got there (they had me carry up my own); phone didn’t work; dirty bath cloth left on shower rod; the shower’s hot and cold taps were backward, but they didn’t tell me in advance, so I thought there was no hot water at first; no shampoo (not sure if that’s normal for them or an oversight).

Just gorgeous. Better if you’re with a group. It’s remote back in there, and we left quickly, because we didn’t feel safe. But I’d recommend it to anyone with travel companions. It’s thick and lush, almost like a rainforest.

My dog loved exploring the rooms. This is a neat place to visit.
There are three main beaches on Dauphin Island, and two of them allow dogs: Public Beach and East Beach. The people at the welcome center said that one by the country club does too, but we couldn’t find that one. They said dogs aren’t allowed on West Beach just because it’s a bird sanctuary.
The beaches are gorgeous. Public Beach is the biggest but requires a hike. East Beach is smaller but beautiful. The guard told me she wouldn’t allow her kids to swim in certain parts of that one because it can get rough.

Nice walk with lovely views. It even has conveniently placed poop bags and trash cans.

The restaurant is indoors but pretty open-air, and dogs are allowed inside! The hostess brought my dog ice water and loved on her while we were waiting to be served.

Neat place to eat—high in the palms. They brought my dog ice water. Would love to have had a doggie menu, but we just shared the mahi mahi. Delicious house-made chips with jalapeño ranch dressing!

They have free “pup scoops,” which seem to be half-scoops of vanilla. My dog went crazy for hers. Cute place with easy window ordering.

The server was extra nice to us. (“You brought your furbaby!”) She kindly supplied water and treats. Ask for the dog menu! Great selection!
