Only game in town

Days Inn by Wyndham Tappahannock

This was the only pet-friendly place that we could find in town with short notice over 4th of July weekend. We would not feel comfortable leaving our dogs here without us at all. There was a leaf in the sheets which would suggest that they hadn't been cleaned, hair in the coffee maker, a dead roach that had been smashed on the wall and not cleaned up, the electrical outlet didn't have plates on them or if they did they were an inch away from the wall, and large pieces of dirt on the floor that hadn't been vacuumed. They had to transfer us rooms because the first non-smoking room we were in reeked of cigarette smoke, but then they only programmed it for one night so we had to get the keys reset for our two night stay. Then they called to let us know that we needed to pay the pet deposit, after forgetting to charge us at check-in the day before. Overall, it was not a good experience but it got us through the weekend. Highly recommend any other option if possible, unfortunately we found no pet friendly Airbnb or VRBO properties in the time frame we had.
