Nice place for a dog walk on leash. You can even get a picture of your dog with two lighthouses in the distance. There is a trail and you can walk around the fort. There is a donation box. For seniors it is $1. The parking lot is small, there is a spot for buses and RV’s.

You need a swipe card from the town to get in. It’s a beautiful park with big culvert tunnels to go through.
We walked around the outside. Other people were walking on the outside too with their dogs.

The Schackleford Island Ferry wasn’t running because of high winds. So we took the Sand Dollar Island Ferry, big pontoon boat. This Ferry didn’t charge for dogs. The dogs loved walking around the island. We had to watch for Portgese Man of War Jelly Fish washed up on shore. We found some nice shells, and sat in the sun for awhile. The dogs loved the wind and the boat ride both ways. If you are in the area, bring a picnic lunch and visit an island.
