My medium - small dog Zara and I had a great 1.5 hr hike in the summer sun. We recommend the Cal-Neva Loop Trail that goes around the park and ends where you started. The trail takes u up as you curve around for some spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. Bring your hiking boots and lots of water, solid harness, and leash for u and ur pup. There are many shady spots and places to rest as u travel
through rock and forest terrains.

I also recommend driving to the small parking lot in the summer heat even though the trail is walking distance from many great hotels near Heavenly Village.
