We were very disappointed with our visit to Murphy’s in Virginia Beach. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable — tables were left with dirty glasses and sticky residue, which set the tone right away.

Service was non-existent. We waited without being acknowledged, let alone offered menus or drinks. For a restaurant that promotes itself as a welcoming place, it didn’t feel that way at all.

As for being “dog friendly,” it was misleading. While technically allowed, we were told to sit in a non-sectioned spot in the parking lot rather than in a safe or comfortable area. That may check the box of allowing dogs, but it certainly doesn’t make it safe or enjoyable for guests with pets.

Between the lack of service, poor cleanliness, and unsafe dog accommodations, we won’t be returning.

Very clean rooms. Very polite staff. Especially Dave!!! He is a gem and a stellar employee. This establishment is very welcoming and comfortable. Great views and plenty of things to do. The hot tub is great as well as the fire pits. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

The hotel was nice. We were very comfortable. Upon checking in, the young blonde woman looked at me like I did not belong and asked if I was aware of the pet policy and the cost. Her demeanor was belittling. The room had 2 dead bugs and garbage on the floor in the doorway and bathroom. I walked my dog as suggested on the end of the parking lot, no where in the golf course. A rude older man jumped off a cart and started telling me everywhere I shouldn’t go with wonderful air traffic controller signals. If you enjoy being treated like you don’t belong with garbage and dead bugs, then it’s your spot. I will say, the overnight staff woman was very sweet when I came down to buy my daughter a shirt. The rooms were very modern and comfortable.

The room was clean! The staff was awesome! Especially, Austin! Very friendly and personable. They have a gift shop and delicious breakfast. We would 100 recommend this place!

The store and park are fabulous!

The staff was very welcoming and fun to talk too. They all love animals. It doesn’t matter where I stay personally, here or The Griffin…. I always bring Lysol and Microban. I also keep a Scentsy Fan or Plug In too. That made a huge difference. I am sure it’s tough after the busy season to keep up with cleaning up after many people. Whenever I can bring my dogs without judgement, I’m sold. The fee was very minimal also! I’ve stayed other places where my pet fees were a little crazy. Take my advice, bring those items and you’ll be fine!

The views were beautiful and the rooms were very cozy. We plan to return and stay again.
