Best place for us & the pups
MainStay Suites WilmingtonStayed here for a week with my husband & 2 small dogs. We loved having a suite with full kitchen, living room area, & separate bedroom. The place was very clean & comfortable with a nice grassy area in the back for dogs. Located in a business area with lots of restaurants & fast food joints nearby
Not great
Motel 6-Blue Springs MOAs a frequent traveler on a budget, I tend to be pretty tolerant of most places & try not to have unreasonable expectations. I have given several Motel 6 locations excellent reviews. But this place is a total dump. The painted-on coating on the shower walls is peeling off in huge strips. There isn’t a single towel rack or hook on the bathroom door to hang up towels. The wooden stairs and walkway outside the room are rotting, so you can see through the slats to the ground below—scary! The room had no microwave, so you can’t even make a cup of tea. The lobby has a large coffeemaker with a sign saying “We will provide coffee cups. DO NOT bring your own container.” This morning, though, when I went down to get some coffee, they had a new sign saying “Our apologies, but we are not offering coffee at this time.” Seriously?? I gave 2 bones for the low price of a room
Best Hotel for Dogs EVER
Holiday Inn Asheville East-Blue Ridge PKWY an IHG HotelGorgeous location, with beautiful surrounding areas for dog walks. The landscaping at Holiday Inn Asheville East is magnificent, with tons of colorful blooms. The room was spotless & beautifully detailed, the lobby is charming & homey, breakfast in the restaurant was delicious—but the dog walk behind the hotel is incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it at a hotel. Tree bark-covered winding pathways, shady leafy trees, various species of birds calling to one another
Great, pet-friendly stop for the night
Motel 6-Kingston TNDriving from CO to NC and back, I am so impressed with how gorgeous it is in Tennessee. This Motel 6 in Kingston was the ideal place to stop for the night. Right off the highway, with 2 large gas stations/food shops next door & across the street. Our room was spotless, an unexpected surprise with Motel 6. Clean, comfortable, & wonderful spots on both sides & in back for walking dogs. Couldn’t ask for a better one-night stop during a road trip.
Great location, very nice to dogs!
Best Western Plus Columbia InnDriving from Colorado to North Carolina with 2 small dogs, this was an ideal place to stop for the night along the way. The hotel is basically surrounded by highways, which makes it very convenient. There are several fast food restaurants within walking distance. All of the parking lots for the restaurants (as well as the hotel itself) are bordered with nice wide, lush, green grassy areas, ideal for short dog walks. The hotel room was large & immaculate, & dogs are allowed to stay in the room unattended—no crating required. The staff asked what breeds my dogs were, & completely won me over by actually talking to the dogs directly. Perfect!
