Lovely little dog park
Mitchell Dog ParkI say "little" as we are used to large dog parks. So far the dog parks of South Dakota have been very disappointing - small, barren, boring. Not so here in Mitchell.
This is a lovely park with trees and grass and benches and a perimeter long enough to exercise both dogs and people. In the center is a wonderful little wood. And people clean up after their dogs! Seems like a no-brainer, right? Not from what we've been seeing.
Good job, Mitchell!
So small; so dull.
Custer Bark ParkWe couldn't believe that, in a state of such wide open spaces, they could dedicate only a tiny patch of grass to an off-leash dog park. You can stand in the middle, through a ball for 15 minutes, and then leave. Nothing to see, nothing to sniff, no path for people exercise.
Dirty - even with bags supplied, guests don't clean up
Dog Park at Family ParkI admit I'm spoiled. I'm used to large, fenced dog parks. This park is small, without trees or much grass. They do have a few obstacles for the dogs to run through or over but that can't replace a real place to romp. And I cannot imagine how all those people could possibly ignore their dogs poop!
Clean up after yourselves, people!
