The pup menu is back!
Lazy Dog Restaurant & BarWe had a wonderful experience here. The outdoor patio is covered and has fans so even comfortable when it’s hot. Plenty of space for the pups to lie down and us to fill a table. TVs on the patio to watch the World Cup games. Food was excellent (human and dogs loved it). Extensive menu with something for everyone.
Great covered outdoor patio - now Bronson Bier Garden
Bronson Bier GardenThey are super dog friendly. also bonus points for the large covered patio that lets you eat without getting wet in the rain! order through the app. note the name change - it’s no longer A-town.
Great stay
The Westin ArlingtonFront desk staff loved our two pups and had toys for them behind the front desk. Rooms were comfortable. Across the street behind a building is a residential area with plenty of green space to walk pups in addition to the more city like sidewalks immediately around the hotel. Plenty of dog friendly restaurants nearby.
Gone downhill
Uncle Julio's Mexicanthey will let pups on the outside patio but you’ll wait forever for a table and for the food and they will act as if the pup is a huge imposition. Go to El Rey or Ballston Local instead
No way to order outside
Potbelly Sandwich Shopthe food is standard potbelly and good. but you can’t take a pup inside and you can’t order unless you go inside (there is no table service). there isn’t any covered seating outside .
Great outdoor space
SER RestaurantSet back a bit from the busy street this is a more upscale option (check the menu). It has a large patio that is pup friendly and offers outdoor table service. You may need reservations during busy times.
Good experience
Renaissance Pittsburgh HotelThey let us have 3 cavaliers in the room. The room was very clean - nothing under the bed or behind the curtains in the corners. We stayed in the 4th floor river view and it was a nice view and a large room with plenty of space for the pups to play. There is a strip of walkway with grass across the street when you walk out to the right as a potty area and plenty of trash cans. Short walk from Point State Park. The property itself is due for a renovation and some wear and tear is visible - but nothing that interfered with us having a good time.
Great service, wonderful getaway spot
Paws on PelhamLove this place! The reviews below are accurate, as are the photos of the rooms on the website. We stayed in room 6, which is basically a small apartment. We basked in sun in the morning, and the pups were torn between lounging in the king size bed and the couch when we weren’t out exploring - the couch is against the window and they could sit on the pillows and watch outside. Very comfortable inside - you control the temperature in each room, and can open the side window if you need some air. Plenty of plug ins - and USB plugs in the outlets near the bed and kitchen were a nice touch. It is keyless entry so one less thing to lose😀. Service was excellent - they helped move us in and breakfast was great. location is great - a few minutes walk to a Giant and pet store (Wag Nation) as well as basically next to Touro Park, just up the street from Bowen’s wharf (tons of restaurants) and about a mile from The Breakers.
Wonderful staff
Lucky Dog Resort Inc.I have two pups who aren’t the leave at home alone type. We wanted to tour The Breakers and Marble House so we used Lucky Dog. Staff clearly knew what they were doing - asked for all the right things, let us know the process ahead of time, everything ran like clockwork, and they really did a great job with the pups. The location is about 15 minutes away from Newport, so easy to get to things - and the gas station on the way there was much cheaper than anyplace else we’d seen!
Great pet store!
Wag NationThis pet store has everything you need - lots of different options so whether you live nearby or come for vacation you’ll find what you need (or forgot) as well as some thing you don’t need😀. They have apparel as well as the necessities. They also seemed to be doing a thriving business for grooming and all the owners we saw were pleased. The cashier knew the inventory incredibly well - she made good suggestions and made the trip there fun for the pups.
Call before you go
O'Briens PubWe stopped by for lunch. They would not serve anyone on the patio, so no dogs.
Great service, really dog friendly
Diego'sA local dog owner recommended this place and now we know why! We came for lunch and got our own igloo! Great service even in times of covid, and truly welcoming of our two pups.
Outdoor patio
La Forge Casino RestaurantWe had the outdoor patio to ourselves on a relatively warm December day. Wait staff were attentive and immediately offered dog treats (they put them in the window sill every morning for the neighborhood pups) and a bowl with water. Salad was good with fresh ingredients.
They aren’t kidding about pet friendly
Residence Inn OrangeburgLove this hotel! Nice area in the back for the dogs (not totally fenced in, but relatively secluded and easy access). Front desk staff paid attention to getting us a room by an elevator or on the first floor for potty breaks. Unlike a number of other area hotels, they had no issues with my *two* pups. Rooms are clean and recently renovated. Next door to a Giant and a Lowe’s. Kitchen in the executive king room has a full size oven. Lots of other dogs here but halls are quiet.
Excellent training
Fur-Get Me NotWe were lucky to get introduced to Karen as a trainer during Covid and then took the nose work classes on Sunday. the pups loves them and we are really enjoying them too!
Read the fine print
Tarrytown House Estate on the HudsonI had a reservation here that I had to cancel. The pet-friendly package says you can only have one pet up to 50 lbs, but elsewhere on the website it says you can have more than one pet and if you reserve through some of the secondary sites and put in two pets this property will come up as an option. I called for something else before we left to find out their policy is to let you check in with only one pet. I hope no one else ends up looking for a place to stay last minute in Tarrytown!
Two good experiences - but you have to go off hours
Ted's BulletinWe were there around 6 pm on a Saturday and around 8:30 am on Sunday and had the same waiter. He brought dog treats on Saturday and the pups got their own water bowl on Sunday. The only issue is there is very limited outdoor seating, and the pups can only sit outside, so recommend you go off hours if the pups are going with you.
Good option
Courtyard by Marriott GettysburgStandard Courtyard rooms. lots of green areas for dog breaks. Beware that the pet fee is per day, not per stay, and they will charge room and occupancy tax on top of that.
