Secluded parking, long stairs covered in thick trees makes for a pretty scene. The water is shallower with a gentler slope away from Hagar beach than many Lake Michigan beaches. Also means the water gets warmer and a nice turquoise in the summer. For my elderly mother, the extremely long staircase is an easier walk than the dog beaches at Michigan City because this one requires no long slopes in sand to get to the beach.

Only issue is for those who like long dog walks, the erode beach means this is only ~200 yards total.

Staff was accommodating to turn on heat lamps on a cool evening. The large pedestrian traffic is fun to see their reaction to your dog. Most appreciated that their patio is entirely fenced in so the dog can run around a bit.
