l am an anthropologist who works in the Himalayas. Fittingly, then, my dog is a Tibetan Terrier. She is now 15 years old, but has always been very calm & loving.

Barc-ee’s is a wonderful concept: a single place where people can eat while dogs (& eventually kids) can play. The staff are extremely friendly and the place is clean. The people food was simple homemade Tex-Mex; dogs were offered “pup cups” (whipped cream topped with a small dog treat). More of a dog corral, actually two adjoining corrals—each of which had tables & chairs for people dining on artificial turf that extended outside as well—this was very modest as dog parks go, but an enjoyable stop nonetheless. Very easy on-and-off I-44 makes for a great stop on long trips. (PS They just opened and are still building the adjoining play area for kids. )
