I have traveled a fair amount both for work and personal. I was crossing the state and selected this Microtel by Wyndham property because it was recommended on this site, BringFido. I read the reviews and honestly, I can barely connect the hotel I arrived at to the photos on this site. The exterior is neat. The interior was awful, and if it wasn't already 930 pm after a drive of 10 hours from Cincinnati, I would have bailed. I took many photos of what I saw, starting in the lobby: truly filthy entry way rugs. No elevator, which is fine, it's only two floors. Carpeted stairs and second floor "lobby" - again, incredibly filthy carpet. The carpet in my small room was clean but poorly finished as it was pulling away from the wall in one area. Walls: visible...something splattered on the wall over the bed and near the door. Dead cockroach under the shelf which passes for a nightstand. No nighstand table; just a wall sconce. Dust, dirt, grime and random hairs in the bathroom. Bathtub with lots of missing finish. Desk chair so shabby I'd pass it up at a yard sale. Refrigerator left at an angle partially blocking the area in front of the bathroom. The two drawers provided had a dead insect, random dirty flecks or something, and what looked like BBQ sauce splatters on the outside.
The part that nearly reduced me to tears, though, was pulling back the comforter and seeing a bottom sheet that was so threadbare that the label of the mattress topper was visible, had perfectly round, frayed edge hole and lots of staining. I went down to the desk and got a new flat [not fitted] sheet which was thick and newer [thankfully], and stripped the bed to put it on. The top sheet had been put on incorrectly so it was too wide side to side and too short top to bottom but the worst part was the comforter. After removing the thin sheet covering the comforter, there was a black stain and a blood stain. I went to my car, where I had extra blankets and a pillowcase and covered the pillows with the extra case and a clean t shirt, stripped off everything and used my blankets, including the clean blankets from my dog's crate, and she slept on the bed. It's pretty ironic that this hotel had the nerve to charge me a dog fee, given the disgusting condition of the room.
The worst part though, is a small, squishy depression in the corner where the AC and wall join. This may or may not be a concrete slab building but whatever the case, there shouldn't be squishy depressions in the floor. There were cracks at the top of the wall near the ceiling. The floor was also sagging under the ice machine in the hall. I would NEVER stay here again, nor would I ever recommend anyone to stay here. I also think BringFido ought to review this hotel.
