King-sized bed room was huge, carpeted, spotlessly clean with no weird smells, and one of the nicest “budget hotel” rooms I’ve ever stayed in while driving cross-country with my dogs. Reasonable pet fee ($15 per dog). It was pouring rain the night we stayed so didn’t have much opportunity to check out the grounds. There is a Waffle House & gas station right across the street, though. I’d definitely stay here again & will look for Days Inn first when trying to book a room.

Extremely nice, welcoming front desk clerk. King-sized room was huge, with couch & coffee table, desk & chair, fridge & microwave. Clean & comfortable. Best feature was the large, grassy courtyard just outside the room. I could just open the door & let the dogs out. The area felt slightly sketchy, but we had no problems. Lots of fast-food restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay there again.

I stay at a lot of “budget” hotels and La Quinta is usually the best. This La Quinta in Columbia, MO is no exception. Nice big, clean room at a great price; and NO PET FEES. I also really appreciate the 12:00 checkout time, unlike most places which require checkout at 11:00. La Quinta Columbia is close to a mall and lots of basic restaurants, too. I thought it was perfect for an overnight stay.

Decided to stay at ESA after too many nights on the road staying at cheap dives. Paid $25 per night PER DOG for my 2 small dogs, but I knew that in advance. At check-in they informed me I needed to pay an additional $100 deposit. Got to the room (which really was pretty nice) and discovered the “free wi-fi” is only good for checking emails. I wanted to stream Netflix so had to pay an additional $5.99 per day for faster internet. Seems like a lot of extra charges in the long run.

I have stayed at many inexpensive hotels while traveling across country and I was pleasantly surprised with Burlington Inn. From the outside it looks pretty rough, but the room was really nice, comfortable, and clean. I will definitely stay there again and highly recommend.

La Quinta is sometimes a great choice but this one was really pretty bad. The halls & room were smelly & dirty. It’s not the hotel’s fault but there were a lot of loud residents that could be heard from the halls. The guy next door was angry, ranting & raving so loudly, I was a little worried about my safety. And having to pay an additional $30 for 2 small, older poodles is ridiculous.

Pros: close to the interstate; no pet fees. These are both pretty important to me, hence the 3-star rating.
Cons: ridiculous policy requiring $100 CASH deposit for using a debit card. I said I’d pay for the room in advance with my debit card, so they’d have guaranteed payment. Nope. Desk clerk told me to walk next door to the bank & get cash. After driving 600 miles today, no thanks. I then tried to use my husband’s credit card. Nope. Bottom line, these people make it really hard to get a room for those of us who don’t like using our credit cards. Another con: the room is a dump. Stains on the bedspreads, gritty floors, lampshades askew, hair in bathtub. I’m usually not that picky & even give Motel 6 a good review most of the time. But I will not stay at Red Roof Inn ever again.
