Dog Friendly Beaches in Valley Stream, NY

The Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands, NJ is pet friendly between certain dates. Dogs are not permitted on ocean-side beaches at Sandy Hook Unit from March 15 through September 15 due to piping plover season. Pets are permitted on bay-side beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove throughout the year, but must always be on a leash. Dog owners must carry out all trash, and make preparations for carrying out dog waste. Parking is $20 in the summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Plumb Beach is a dog-friendly beach in Brooklyn, NY. Dogs are welcome to romp and play off leash along this stretch of shoreline. The area can be quite windy and it is a popular place for windsurfing and kiteboarding.

Rockaway Beach is New York City's only legal surfing beach, making it a top attraction in Queens, NY. Fido doesn't need a surfboard to enjoy a day in the sun. Larchmont Dog Beach is a pet-friendly area of beach in Larchmont, NY. The beach is located along Long Island Sound and privately owned by the Larchmont Manor Park Society. Visiting at low tide is recommended. Be sure Fido is leashed at all times.
