Paul Douglas Preserve Paul Douglas Preserve In Hoffman Estates, IL, is dog friendly. Home to grasslands, wetlands and a heron rookery that attract a variety of nesting birds, outbound hounds will be pleased to know that birders aren’t the only ones who will have a great time here. Leashed dogs are invited to join their trail running owners for canicross on single track trails that wind through the protected landscape or on paved trails in the preserve for a nice walk at a slower pace.
