Reviews
- EricApr 28, 2024Great stay
Nice and easy with the dog with a room on the first floor with outside entry. Cheap dog fee too.
- DianaAug 25, 2023The Highlight of our trip!!
Newly remodeled interior and working on exterior. This was the friendliest, most naturally beautiful and cleanest of anywhere we stayed. The dogs were comfy with only $15 pet fee. Well worth the cost, I would stay here any time!! Coffee shop attached to front desk is incredible!!! I cannot say enough how helpful and kind the staff here truly are. This was an experience I will treasure for years to come. Thank you!
- DennisSep 25, 2022Terrible Motel!!!
I'll not book there again. I called a couple of days before my stay just to confirm that I had a reservation. The person at the motel told me that I did not, so for an obvious reason, I did not stay there. Then I noticed that the motel charged me for the stay. Terrible experience!
- LindaJul 15, 2021So so
I picked this place because they didn't charge a pet fee. When I checked in he said it was an extra $12 a night. He ended up waiving that. My 100 lb. dog doesn't do see through stairs and he was going to put us on the second floor so he had to change that. There was absolutely no grassy area for dogs. I will not go there again

Was ok for what we needed but advertised dog area was actually in parking lot. Room was clean but beds needed updating.
- JanisJun 21, 2021Pet friendly
No problem with my pup.
- LisaJun 1, 2021Good Enough
The lodge is basic. There was enough room but the bathroom was really small and things seemed to be out dated. There really isn’t a space for the pups to roam, all rocks. No coffee or free breakfast like most other hotels offer, but it was really close to restaurants and the local sites. Happy about the no pet fee as well.
- KathleenApr 11, 2021Bare bones but OK
Minimum amenities, (one bath, hand, and washcloth per person), but clean and comfortable enough. Friendly staff.
Rocks, not grass. Good for a quick overnight. - JessicaMar 21, 2021Dog Friendly!
We were not charged a pet fee, which was fantastic. Great COVID precautions. Pretty standard room but they are okay if you leave your pet alone, as long as they are crated. Just be aware there is no grass/lawn on premise (landscaping one with rocks) and not much of a pet area. This isn’t a big deal unless you have a picky potty pup, like we do!
- BrianJan 25, 2021Great location. Really friendly staff. Nice coffee shop attached to office.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Nice coffee shop as part of amenities.
- MelissaJan 20, 2021Good Location & Dog Friendly
Taos Valley Lodge is in a good location, right in the middle of town. It does NOT have a fenced dog area as stated in the description but does have doggie relief stations throughout the parking lot.
- AmandaJan 17, 2021No dog area
I chose this lodging based on the fenced pet area, aa Taos has no dog park. This area has been locked off and has a for sale sign. The only place for my dogs to potty was the rock around the edges of the parking lot. The staff were nice and the room was clean, but little details like no hand lotion or bath tub plug bummed me out. Not the facility's fault: my neighbor was a chainsmoker. The walls are thin enough I could smell every time they lit up.
- FrancisNov 28, 2020Ok for the price.
Room was clean but a little worn. No pet odors. Convenient location.
- AlisonOct 24, 2020The El Camino is now the Taos Valley Lodge
The new owners have been busy upgrading the hotel and are proud of their new establishment. This hotel is far from a 5 star hotel but is very clean, the staff are polite very eager to please. They are also adding a coffee shop that looks very appealing. Our room was equipped with a microwave, coffee pot, and mini fridge. The hotel has barbeque areas and a laundry mat. I took one bone away because the doggy area is gravel which is tough to clean up after your pet. I would stay here again.
