Luxury retreat cottages at Cliff House Farm (no longer a working farm) with secure private car park, situated in fantastic location 0.5 miles from Sleights in the little hamlet of Iburndale within The North York Moors National Park. Consisting of 3 luxury stone cottages and owners farmhouse set around a sunny courtyard . Children aged 12 and over are welcome. Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday, situated just four miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline. It is also on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors with its rugged landscape. Though quiet, Sleights boasts a fish and chip shop, Radfords renowned local butchers/deli selling quality meats and Bothams Bakers. There is also a Spar grocery shop with a comprehensive off-licence open from 7.00am to 10.00pm daily. A Post Office is located within the Spar shop. There is public transport to the picturesque town of Whitby with cobbled streets and many eateries including The Magpie which was featured by Rick Stein. There are also a number of trendy bars/bistros for your culinary delight. The Abbey is quite theatrical overlooking the town and can be reached by climbing the famous 199 steps. We offer luxury accommodation for guests who would like a peaceful setting in beautiful surroundings. The cottages offered are quaint but not twee and are appointed to a very high standard, two with bespoke cabinet made kitchens in Farrow and Ball colours. The setting is ideal for a relaxing holiday but is very close to local beaches and visitor attractions. We are happy to advise on walks or restaurants. Each cottage has a beautiful fireplace with a log burning stove for those romantic nights. They are very well equipped with quality crockery and glassware. I am happy to provide things like a slow cooker for anyone who would like to use one. There is a Webber BBQ available for your use. There are also deckchairs available and loungers and parasols for the summertime. There are candle lanterns and outdoor oil torches should you need them. This area is looking over the national park, where there is a gate to a beautiful circular walk taking around 2 hours. Various lawn games - Jenga, connect 4 and lawn boules. It is our aim to make sure you will have a holiday making great memories . All cottages are renovated to a very high standard, even the external doors are insulated. They are very warm and cosy in winter, unlike some old cottages. They each have high spec bathrooms with good size shower cubicles and large raindrop shower heads and the towels and bed linen are of high quality, along with the beds to guarantee a good nights sleep. Drake Cottage, being the larger cottage has a very spacious luxury 5 star bathroom with large soaking tub where you can relax with a glass of wine and a candle lit lantern to ease those tired muscles after a hard days walking along with large luxury walk in raindrop shower. The gardens are south facing with views of the National Park hills with grazing cows. There is quality outdoor rattan garden furniture at each cottage for comfortably dining al fresco or partaking of breakfast, or just enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine after a busy day. All cottages have their own doggy safe garden. A waist high doggy shower with a warm water is available for all doggies. The Coach House has comfy rattan seating in the sunny courtyard garden. We have known people to go home with a tan in March! As we only take children of 12 years and over the environment is very calming and two people have told us that they have not had to take sleeping tablets during their stay with us. People have commented that when you are in our little haven it feels like it is giving you a big comforting hug, but you can judge that for yourself! That is one of the things that we noticed when we bought the property but it is nice that other people have felt it too. We opened in 2014 and have many guests returning again and again.
OUR GUEST BOOK
"Luxury high quality accommodation, the best bathroom we have ever had, including hotels. Bothams the bakers shop in Sleights is the best. Wonderful to get up each morning and see the horses in the field. Thank you Rob and Julie"
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay yet again.... we love coming over to stay, this is our third time and we will be back again. We always go home refreshed and relaxed and it's just the perfect tonic for my recovery from my illness, see you soon".
" Thank you Julie and Robert for fantastic cottage. Everything we hoped for and more. Really lovely place, thoroughly enjoyed the area and hope to make a return visit sometime. Neo our dog loved the walks but wasn't too keen on the dog bath outside ( which we thought was brilliant)"
"We have had a lovely stay in your most beautiful cottage. It's definitely the best place we have stayed with our dogs. Your attention to detail is fabulous. We have explored the countryside and coast and have worn the dogs out on a daily basis ( particularly loved Sandsend beach (as you can park for one hour for 20p) Homeward bound now to start the diet! Wishing you much success and we will certainly recommend Cliff Farm. Hope to be back one day soon"
"Totally agree with all the great comments about Mr Ralph's cottage: brilliant, very relaxing and a great location. Sandsend excellent. We've had a lovely time, looking forward to booking again"
"A lovely week at Mr Ralphs cottage, perfect location and as echoed by other guests, the best we have ever stayed in, home and abroad. It has been great to re-visit N Yorkshire after at least 20 years plus, and get to see all the lovely sights and beaches again. Many thanks to Robert and Julie and hope that they continue to build on the success of the cottages. The wine on arrival most welcome"
" A lovely cottage, filled with quality furnishings and fittings, it was a pleasure coming back each evening after an exhausting but highly enjoyable trip out. Location is stunning with so many interesting beautiful places to visit nearby. We made good use of the guide book provided. We shall be back next year without a doubt"

"We have stayed in so many luxury cottages and yours is up there with the best. Robert and Julie are fantastic hosts, their taste is impeccable and we are so impressed by their attention to detail. the level of comfort and luxury which they provide is amazing. We've had a great time choosing from their extensive range of CD's, so many we could not get through them all. Oh well, as if we needed an excuse , we'll just have to come back to listen to some more!! Thank you so much"
" The Coach House, what a beautiful place, 3 nights were just not long enough, everything finished to such a high standard by Robert and Julie. Must return and maybe try out Mr Ralphs cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay to celebrate Kenny's 60th Birthday, then on to another barn conversion to meet up with family, hope it's half as good as this one and we'll be satisfied. Thank you both"
