DETAILS:
Combining a mix of vintage and modern, this apartment is full of style. Relax and soak up the sun in the classic orange slice chairs, which sit under the tall, light-filled living room windows. Want to catch up on your favorite shows while you are here? Not a problem! Pull the shades and cozy up on the couch while you binge all the Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu you'd like on our smart RokuTV. The couch in the living room is a twin daybed, allowing you to sleep extra guests if needed. Extra pillows and blankets are provided for your comfort and convenience.
Steps away, you will find a well-stocked kitchenette with everything you might need for a short stay. A full fridge/freezer, convection toaster oven, induction burner, and a microwave allow you to make most meals in the apartment. We've stocked the drawers with a range of kitchen supplies -- everything you need to make and enjoy a fresh meal. With the burr grinder and french press, you'll make a delicious cup of local coffee every morning. And, if coffee isn't your thing, we also stock a wide assortment of herbal and caffeinated Stash teas. Enjoy your fresh meal on the stylish and comfortable bar table, overlooking the living room.
The bedroom is furnished with all of the comforts of home. The large bedroom, with plenty of room for the king size bed, will feel luxurious. The cozy bed, with memory foam mattress, buttery Comphy sheets, and plenty of pillows, will help you get a splendid night's rest. Ample room on the bed side table to help you feel comfortable at night. A twin size daybed sits opposite the bed and is a great place to cozy up and read. The memory foam mattress makes this a comfy extra bed for an adult or for little ones. Bring your own book, or enjoy one of ours!
In lieu of a closet, we have easy to see and clean shelves for you to quickly unpack and make yourself at home. Have a few things to hang? We have you covered. Laundry in the building, as well as iron and ironing board, will ensure you look your best.
We love this bathroom, and hope you will too! Nooks surround the sink, offering necessities. We try to anticipate our guests' needs, including toiletries, and plenty of fresh towels await our guests. The roomy walk in shower is light and clean. You'll love the rain shower head and spacious bench. We provide organic, paraben- and cruelty-free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, so no need to bring your own.
Step outside your front door, and a private patio awaits you. Share a cup of coffee with the morning sun. Or, if you want to spread out, lounge in the Brazilian hammocks in the backyard. If you want to grill while you are with us, you’ll love the back deck with a 5-burner natural gas grill, cooler, and built-in bar. Enjoy your meal in the screened outdoor dining room and lounge.
The Property:
The mansion, named Eden Brae, was built in 1910, and is situated on Cliff Road, one of the most desirable and walkable residential streets in the city of Birmingham. It has five separate apartments, each with its own private entrance. If you are interested in renting one or more of the apartments, please let us know. The entire mansion is also available for rent for large parties.
The property’s elegant iron gates provide a secure space for you to enjoy the home. Clean, lighted pathways, and a grand front porch greet you when you arrive and invite you to explore the property. The home's lions and other architectural features create a warm and fun place to stay.
Stroll around the grounds of the property, and you will find lots of areas to relax and entertain. The screened in porch behind the house provides a wonderful place to relax. The space contains a community dining table for 12 and an oversized comfy bench, available first-come, first-serve to all guests.
If you want to cook out during your stay, we've got you covered! Guests are welcome to use the outdoor kitchen, which sports a new grill, a large ice chest, and an oversized working bar. The Kenmore Elite five burner natural grill has both a searing element and an extra side burner for heating sauces and sides. Or, take a nap or cuddle up under the cedar trees in one of our over-sized, Brazilian double hammocks.

Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the apartment (interior photos). They will also have shared access to the gated grounds of the property, which include a fire pit, gas grill, outdoor dining room, gardens, fountains, and several lounge areas. The property is shared with other Airbnb guests staying in the other apartments at Eden Brae.
The Neighborhood:
While you are with us, be sure to venture out into the neighborhood. Just a few blocks away, you will find parks, restaurants, coffee, golf, and tennis!
Highland Park Golf and Tennis Club is just a block away. Open to the public, it is very easy to play a round of golf or a game of tennis during your stay. With amazing course conditions and incredible views of the city skyline, the Highland Park golf course is beloved by locals and visitors alike. Play 9- or 18- holes or enjoy the driving range. Tee times are easy to book online, in person, or by phone. If tennis is your sport, you are in luck. The Highland Park Racquet Club is next door and easy to access. Clay courts and hard courts are available for single or doubles play.
If you are in the mood for something more relaxed, the church around the corner has a beautiful public stone meditation path. Rushton Park, one of the three parks lining Highland Avenue, is just a couple of blocks away. A favorite among locals, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a pretty day. If you are traveling with kids, you will love Rushton Park's gated playground. Or, if you are in for something more active, try the park's basketball or volleyball court. Just outside the park, you will find a few popular local eateries. In the mood for a coffee or pastries, try O'Henry's. Or, stroll next door to Rojo, a popular Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. It's dog friendly and regularly features live music and entertainment.
Getting Around:
Eden Brae is just a couple of miles from most of Birmingham's most popular attractions: Railroad Park, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Avondale, Sloss Furnace, the Art Museum, Regions Field, Vulcan Park, and Downtown's Entertainment and Civil Rights Districts. All are easily accessibly by bike or by car/Lyft/Uber.
