It is a great place to start if you want to do river boating, take scenic walks, go shopping, or just rest on the banks of the river and watch the rowers who routinely compete and hone their abilities. The Wye, the Monnow, and the Trothy all meet here. Henry V was born in Monmouth, which is also known for its historic architecture, the only surviving mediaeval bridge from the 13th century in Britain, the Nelson Garden, and other notable historical sites. It is true that there are many intriguing places to see in this small town. Short drives will take you to nearby Usk, Abergavenny, Ross-on-Wye, and even into the breath-taking Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean, and Wye Valley. The surrounding areas are also rich in history.
