Why is this place never open???
True Boss 醋頭家I've come 4 times now. 3/4 times they are not open during their posted business hours.
Sure, this place is dog friendly and drinks are decent, but what's the point when their doors are never open? I'm not clear if they're just waiting to go out of business or something.
Get the bubble waffles
Gong ChaNot all Gong Cha locations are dog friendly, but this one is. Your dog must be on leash and under control at all times.
I recommend the bubble waffles on the menu. They're absolutely delicious.
After snacking here, you can check out the dog park directly behind the walmart of the plaza or the other dog friendly stores nearby for some shopping.
Real fruit in drinks!
YGO Juice & Tea LabI came here last weekend and was surprised to find out the store is dog friendly. They even have a bowl of water out for dogs indoors.
Seating here is very limited, but it's enough space for me to bring my dog to sit for a bit and enjoy a drink to cool down before continuing our walk.
Drinks here are made with real fruit rather than the gross powder flavouring so that's a huge plus for me.
Right next to dog park!
Gong ChaGong Cha is not a pet friendly chain. It depends by location and so happens that this one is dog friendly. Your dog would have to be well behaved, not barking at anyone or anything, and on leash while you're there together.
I highly recommend the bubble waffles on their menu. They are absolutely delicious!
After you eat here, you can also visit the dog park located right behind the walmart of this plaza. There are a number of dog friendly shops in the same plaza as well.
Weather protected and heated patio
El JefeWe came here over the weekend with our large german shepherd and it was amazing! 5/5 stars. Because the place was dog friendly, I'd give it an extra star and say 6/5 stars.
Environment: The colourful patio is right next to a beautiful wall mural, which makes it great for photos. Patio has a roof to protect from weather and it has heating, so you will feel warm.
Food: omg. Tacos here are delicious! We recommend the pulled pork one. Food here is so good. Even if it weren't dog friendly, we'd come back for food.
Service: Our waitress was a big fan of our large dog. She even brought out an actual bowl filled with water for him without needing to be asked to do so. It makes me feel like they truly do like dogs and are very welcoming.
Dog must be leashed to outside of fence.
Jake's On MainThe patio large and amazing for parties, but it is not fully dog friendly.
You cannot bring your dog inside and have them by your table while you dine. But you can have them tied to outside of the fence while you sit at the table immediately next to them. This makes Jakes on Main dog friendly-ish.
Just note that there will be people who pass by and try to pet your dog without asking because they are tied to the outside of the fence.
If you need a quick stop for pub food, and Unionville Arms Pub & Grill is packed full, Jake's is a good alternative.
Get drinks with your dog indoors
The Bernese BaristaI think this is probably the only dog cafe at the moment in the GTA and we love it! There obviously aren't many patios to go to during winter but this dog cafe is a great spot to go instead.
Just remember that it's basically like dog park rules. You're allowed to let your dog off leash. Most dogs are actually off leash but keep an eye on your dog to make sure it is behaving. Remove your dog and leave at first sign of aggression. Clean up after your dog if an accident happens. There are cleaning supplies available here including nature's miracle enzyme spray. And of course, do not feed someone else's dog unless you have the permission of the owner first.
There were a lot of small dogs when I came here but large dogs are welcome as well. My dog is a big German Shepherd. We also saw an Akita and a Rottweiler as well. So we weren't the only large dog owners here.
They also sell homemade treats as well.
Slow service and inaccurate orders
La Grotta on MainDon't come to this patio if you're in a rush. It may take the servers 40 min to bring your food like ours with our table of 2. They might even forget to bring certain items ordered as well. But I suppose it is a dining option if you're desperate?
Hot hot noodles on a dog friendly patio
Yunshang Rice Noodle (Scarborough)So normally this restaurant doesn't have a patio but during the pandemic, they fenced off the 4 to 5 parking spots in front of the store and added a very large covered patio for shelter. I have no idea how long they will keep this for but I will keep going with my dog while it is there.
Noodles are consistent with the rest of the chain. Comes super hot and is good. I can't ask for anything more than cheap hot and good asian food. Try the tomato noodle broth when you're there if you want more flavour.
Food is a bit slow but good.
Tanuki RestaurantCame to the patio with our german shepherd around 8pm so it wasn't busy. Ordered food and it arrived after 30 min.
Each entre was less than $20 so it was very reasonably priced and tasted good. Try the tonkatsu curry when you're here next time. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how thick and well done it is.
Also setup of the surrounding building makes the patio very relaxing with a fountain nearby as well.
