Other reviews offer great descriptions of the park. I will add that the volunteer was very confused about the Bark Ranger tags but we did get them. We were also told that our dogs could go into all of the open buildings, including the cottage, the school room, the blacksmith shop and the friendly meeting house. This might vary depending on who is the park ranger there at the time and how busy the park is.

We loved exploring the caves in this beautiful park! The boardwalk steps, of which there are approximately 1 billion, can get very slippery when it rains, but the handrails were amazing. The main walkable cave has a paved path. We were there on a Monday morning, and it was a lot less crowded than it was when we drove past the Sunday prior. However, the gift shop, which had been open on Sunday, was closed on Monday. make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes and bring a headlamp.

Amana is a very cute town that has numerous shops, restaurants, and other stores to visit. Make sure to stop in the visitor center when you get there to get a map of all the different stores. We were told at the visitor center to ask stores if they allow dogs and every store that we went into and asked allowed us to bring our dogs in. This may vary depending on how busy the town is. We were there on a weekday and it wasn’t too crowded.

It was so wonderful to visit an establishment that let our dogs inside! This is so rare and we really appreciated the opportunity. There are also outdoor tables if that is more your style. The humans were served delicious drinks quickly. However, unlike what other reviewers have said, our dogs did not get any water or treats. TheyThey did get a lot of pets! Please note that the bar has a limited food menu and the full menu is actually from a restaurant down the street. We were there on a Wednesday night and the town did not seem that busy but our food still took a very long time to arrive. If you enjoy live music, there was a guitar player, providing entertainment. It was a little loud for us. Also, our only table choices were coffee, table height, or bar table height.

Great outdoor shaded area to relax with pets. Two water bowls are always out. The very nice sales clerk made our pups pup cups with whipped cream and a small dog treat. They were in Heaven!! We purchased several of their chocolates for humans and all were delicious.

Pet friendly area is the Biergarten at the rear of the restaurant. This has a separate limited menu different from the regular restaurant. Brick patio is shaded and service was excellent. Dogs were given a big bowl of ice water and two Milk Bone treats each!

Pet friendly area is a nice deck with picnic tables and sun shades. Each dog got a big bowl of ice water and lots of pets. Food was very good! Service was quick, attentive and friendly!

Good location, clean room, we were close to the side door for quick in and out potty stops.

The room was clean but we were on the third floor. It seems all the guests staying that night were places in the third floor. The room had a significant mold smell to it and mold was evident on the bathroom ceiling. Good breakfast!
We were there on a Friday night at about 6:30. It was very busy and had really loud music playing. From a dog point of view this was not the place. Other reviews mentioned that they got water in a dog dish, we did not. The dogs were not even acknowledged. We had to eat at a low table, about knee height, which is awkward in general and not great when the golden doodle tail is threatening to knock over the wine. As other reviews mentioned, while the porch is covered, the sun sets directly over the water and hits the tables. The food was fine but we were eating so fast just to get away from the loud music, the sun, and the table. All in all, I would not recommend taking your dog here.

There is a great visitors center with benches in the shade. Dogs are not allowed in the visitors center. They are in the process of becoming one of the Bark Ranger sites as part of the NPS.
The trails are really nice, mostly wood chips. There is about 100’ of boardwalk at the start and no stairs. However, the first part of the trail is about a third of a mile of trail with a 350’ elevation gain. Not for the faint of heart on a hot humid day. Once at the top the views are amazing! We saw hawks swooping at eye level and the mounds are nice. And then you have to go back down 350’. Needless to say, on a hot, humid day in July, my mini schnauzer was TIRED! Bring lots of water and bug spray.

Very dog friendly! They have poop bag stations along the walk and the water fountain by the restrooms has a dog bowl. Lovely walk on the river with nice views and a sculpture garden.

This is the Pikes Peak in Iowa. Some of the other reviews and photos must be for other Pikes Peaks. There is no visitor center or bus. This park was recently redone and is really nice. The views of the Mississippi River are stunning. We did about 2 miles of trails including Bridal Falls. The trails are well marked and nicely maintained. The trail from the river overlooks to Bridal Falls is all boardwalk with lots of steps. Bring water and bug spray if you are going in the summer months.
