Not your typical winery
Barboursville VineyardsI went during a weekday and had to wait several minutes before a staff member appeared. There were already a few people inside enjoying their wine so I knew they were open. They had automatic wine dispensers that provided the perfect pour based on what you purchased. I like to hear about the wine making process and with no pourer it lacked the intimacy. There was a sheet that explained the wine but I prefer hearing about it and being able to discuss it with an actual person. Nevertheless the wine was good and the two staff members I did see were friendly. No outside food is allowed and there are limited options of snacks to munch on so don't go hungry. It is a a very pretty area and I would probably go again.
Rocky but great!
Crabtree FallsTook my dogs on a weekday morning so it was pretty empty. I was able to get cute pics of them by the falls and on the trail. The hike can be very rocky so I recommend good hiking boots.
Also bring $3 for the park fee.
