I went during a weekday and had to wait several minutes before a staff member appeared. There were already a few people inside enjoying their wine so I knew they were open. They had automatic wine dispensers that provided the perfect pour based on what you purchased. I like to hear about the wine making process and with no pourer it lacked the intimacy. There was a sheet that explained the wine but I prefer hearing about it and being able to discuss it with an actual person. Nevertheless the wine was good and the two staff members I did see were friendly. No outside food is allowed and there are limited options of snacks to munch on so don't go hungry. It is a a very pretty area and I would probably go again.
This is a great place to stop for wine, walk the pup and chill. Dogs are allowed INSIDE, as well as on the patio. It's a short walk to the ruins to stretch your legs.
This was a great experience. We took our dogs on a short walk to visit the ruins then headed to the winery. Gorgeous winery with an outdoor patio and tasting room that are dog friendly. The staff was great with the dogs petting ant bringing water for them. The staff also helped us plan out our winery trip with great recommendations. Would highly recommend!!
Beautiful grounds with a dog friendly expansive deck overlooking vineyards and the Blue Ridge Mountains. They also let our dog into the tasting room. A very relaxing hangout with several delicious wines to sample.
We dug up 6 pictures of dogs at Barboursville Vineyards.

Interesting site just past the winery. Thomas Jefferson designed the home for the Virginia Governor. The home burned in 1884. We took a picnic and ate under the pergola next to the family cemetery.
