Nice stay

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Omaha West

As digital nomads with 2 pugs we stay at a lot of pet friendly hotels. In the 6 weeks we've stayed at 7 of them to give you some perspective. This hotel was one of the better ones for cleanliness. So many in this tier of mid-range hotels with decent amenities fall short there. Our dogs are well behaved and perfectly housebroken. Evidently a lot of others travel with pet that are not and the hotels think it's perfectly ok to just leave the room smelling like urine forever. Our room was on the 2nd floor which wasn't convenient with dogs but at least it was odor free. The bathroom was spacious and the open shower very nice.

They are pretty strict about where the pet area is outside and it's pretty small; but maintained well. Front desk was understaffed. I had to wait quite a while to check in because there was no one in sight. Multiple trips to the desk over the stay always resulted in the same vacant spot with a wait. Breakfast was good. Plenty of options including a handful of hot choices. Coffee tasted like McDonalds but any port in the storm. Starbucks is right down the street.

When you want a little splurge

Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort

I mean, for the price of the room + resort fee + pet fee, if you have any complaints about this hotel you're going to be HOPPING MAD, am I right? All jokes aside, we've stayed in a lot of mid-range hotels with our dogs and decided on a little splurge for once. The room was amazing. We stayed in a Sonoran King with outside shower and mountain view. Amazing. We got room service and sat on our patio late into the evening enjoying the warm breezes and peacefulness of the surroundings. Very quiet.

Room was equipped with a food bowl and cuddle bed for our dogs which was nice although we do travel with our own. Room service was a little disappointing. We read online that they had special options for dogs but that was not the case. Our food was ok - they completely forgot my husband's meal and so we had to wait a bit for it and then when it came it wasn't what he ordered. I mean, it was ok but it was over $100 for 2 meals and we didn't order drinks you would think the service would be a little better.

The grounds are flipping gorgeous. I mean those resort fees definitely go to the landscapers holy cow. It's like stepping into a fairy tale. We didn't stay long enough to really enjoy all of the amenities offered but everything really looked and sounded amazing. Overall a great respite for weary travelers.

Smelly room

Comfort Inn & Suites Cheyenne

I've almost come to accept that if you choose to book a room with low pet fees ($20-$30) the rooms are going to be either dirty, stinky or both; however after staying in other hotels with similar fees that were both clean and odorless, I'm not giving these hotels a pass anymore. Our dogs are clean and very well housetrained so paying to stay in a room that reeks of urine is just unacceptable. The room seemed clean otherwise and the location to I-80 was convenient. We only stayed one night as we were only passing through and thank goodness for that as I was getting headaches and nauseated from the smell.

Unique Experience in Beautiful Setting

Hotel Luna Mystica

What a fun and unique experience this was for us and our 2 small dogs. It was a little hard to find and the front desk/building is still under construction. Be sure to pack food because there is nothing available on premise and the nearest store is a bit of a haul.

Do not stay here!

La Quinta by Wyndham Albuquerque West

Room REEKED of urine; there is no way they are shampooing these carpets if pets have accidents in them. Dog areas outside were tiny and covered in dog poop as were all the other non-designated dog areas. Power went out twice in one day and key cards were not working for a while. We threw the bolt on our room door and it was a good thing because someone tired to get in and only that bolt stopped them. Staff said they would "walk the hotel" to look around. How does that help if the key cards aren't keeping people out? The area itself was pretty iffy and everywhere is covered in garbage. Hotel was pretty full and lots of dogs and people made for a ton of noise so we were up late. Breakfast was such a short window of time and options quite limited but it didn't matter because we just wanted to get the heck out of there. The urine smell was making us ill.

This is how you do dog friendly!

Best Western Santa Fe

Superb all around. Friendly people, clean room. Room had all the amenities and they even added 2 pee-pee pads just in case. Got a first floor room with easy access to the door so getting the dogs out was a breeze. Breakfast was phenomenal with many hot items on top of the usual carb options. Free coffee, popcorn and cookies in the lobby all day. Dog walking area is a little sparse but there was enough area for the dogs to do their business.

Just Ok

Best Western Country Inn North

We have had better experiences at other Best Western locations. We liked the standard motel layout of having a direct access door to the outside because it was convenient with dogs in tow. The location itself doesn't feel super safe though, so additional security might have made for more peace of mind. There were some questionable characters hanging about and the parking lot got a little lively overnight which upset our dog a bit when we were trying to sleep. The room, especially near the bathroom, had a bad smell to it. I thought it smelled like urine but my husband said it was just really musty.

The room was also not especially clean. the sheets had stains which made us question if they even cleaned the room before we checked in. There is a note taped on the office door that says due to staff shortages rooms will not be cleaned every day. Amenities didn't exist. No hair dryer, no shampoo, no bar of soap in the bathroom and almost no toilet paper. I was pretty shocked when they didn't ask for my ID when I checked in. Pool was closed. Dog area didn't really exist but we were able to walk them to do their business ok enough. No dog station with bags or garbage nearby. We carry our own of course so no issue there just not the same welcome we are used to at other locations. Would not stay again.
