- GabrielleOct 23, 2022So much poop
The off leash dog park section was small. I did like how it had an open area for playing and then a small wooded area. But, the poop! I’ve never seen so much at a dog park. It was gross. Spent about 10 minutes in the dog park and then walked around the rest of the large park with dogs on leash. I definitely preferred the leashed area over the unleashed.

Tired of off-leash dogs bothering us on dog walks in my neighborhood (loose dogs stress out leashed dogs when they charge them), so I took my 6 mo German Shepherd to the DuPont Off Leash park, and she loved it!!
Highly, highly recommend this park for dog-park beginners... do NOT go to a big dog park, like Fort Steilacoom dog park without getting your dog accustomed at a smaller park like this.
She played with a beautiful Cattle dog/Black Lab male, and got to meet a Husky... it was great; the park was not too big where I can't catch her if she gets a wild hair, but big enough to meet a few dogs and romp through some woods.
Nice stretch of land, so I got to find out she's an EXCELLENT fetcher with my Kong Launcher.
You can park where you can see your car and Police drove around regularly... A Fresh bottle of water was there, and no doodoo left around, was a good time at an awesome little park! I hear there's a trailhead around there leading to a body of water.. will check that out next time :-)

DuPont Off-Leash Dog Park is a purely volunteer maintained venue in DuPont’s Piwderworks Park. The dog park is surrounded by cyclone style fencing and has two distinct and separated play areas for dogs. The larger area features a wooded area with trees and tall grass, as well as plenty of open space to allow a dog to run or chase toys.
The smaller area is best for smaller breeds or puppies over 4 months old and is wide open and flat.
There are logs specifically placed for seating as well as a picnic bench outside the gates for sitting or enjoying a family outing.
The dogs I have encountered there have not been overly aggressive, and usually owners are gracious to separate in the two areas dogs that are becoming aggressive towards each other.
The dog park is pretty free of dog feces, and people are urged to remind visitors of their responsibility to clean up after their dogs.
There is fresh water available on both enclosed spaces.
We are fortunate to have this facility in our town. We visit it frequently and enjoy the facility. - KELLYMore than a year agoRhodesian Ridgeback
So May 22nd I took my dog to the dog park and he was attacked by a Rhodesia Ridgeback. Very sad that he will probably still continue to bring his unsociable dog again, and I will not be bringing my dog back. Please read rules before you bring your pet into a dog park.
