    Great Park but…

Beautiful views but not very dog friendly. We were able to take short hikes and leave our dog in our Tesla in “dog mode”. We enjoyed ourselves but our dog preferred being outside the Park so he could join in the hiking fun.

    It worked out okay

We read the reviews here before heading to Canyon Land with our new pup. The weather was great because it was sunny but didn't get warmer than 60 degrees. We drove through the whole park first and then on the drive back stopped at a few hikes along the way. The hikes were short so our little girl slept in the back seat comfortably while we did that. We were able to let her out in the parking lots of a few spots where she was able to stretch her legs and get a drink of water. We thought the day was perfect and we were so glad she was with us but the stars definitely aligned with the weather which allowed us to do this. We were there in mid-October.

    We Got Lucky!

Today it was only 50 degrees so it was very comfortable for my dogs to hang in the car while we checked out the Canyonlands. I could see how this would be awful if it was hot out. They couldn’t really get out at all expect on paved areas. We had a long hike outside of the park so they were pretty good. The Canyonlands were beautiful! If possible, I would suggest not bringing them so you could enjoy the hikes throughout out the park.

Amazing Place For People, Not Pets

Dogs are very restricted, just like in Arches National park. Only on roads, picnic areas and parking lots. The surfaces get too hot foe paws anyway.

    Nowhere to go

The ranger said dogs could not access any trail and basically are limited to parking lots for day visitors. Signs even bar dogs from paved sidewalks to and from said lots. I have visited 20 national parks so far, and this was strictest by far. Disappointing.
