    Sam Houston National Forest

    Sam Houston National Forest is a pet-friendly natural area in New Waverly, TX. Located 50 miles north of Houston, the forest contains forested land between Huntsville, Conroe, Cleveland and Richards, Texas. The 128-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail, a portion of which has gained National Recreation Trail status, winds through the forest. Dogs are welcome to join their owners on a leash within the park, as long as they are well behaved and all mess is cleaned up after them. Visit Website
