Ok dog friendly trails but try Eagle cliff falls with Fido instead

I walked with my dog on the dog friendly trails and my group took turns walking with us or walking in the gorge. I have been there before so I didn’t mind just going on the dog friendly trails with him. It can get confusing where dogs can and can’t go. We did the north rim trail and it’s cool but you can’t really see the gorge. Eagle cliff falls is not far from there and gives you more of the feel of being in the gorge but is dog friendly. Once you get to the top you see a beautiful waterfall and there is some shallow water. Like Watkins glen, You do have to walk up some steep stairs to get there so it’s not inclusive to people and pups who can’t do or have difficulty with steps and uneven surfaces.

Can’t go on the best trail/recommended nearby stay

Nice trails but it’s unfortunate that you can’t go on the best one with your dogs.. the gorge trail. If you’re looking for a place to stay, we stayed at the Seneca lodge cabins. Highly recommend.. walking distance to the state park

    Beautiful but disappointing

Watkins Glen is beautiful but it was disappointing that dogs aren’t permitted on the gorge trail. Perhaps this is because of the numerous steps. However, I didn’t feel like I saw everything and didn’t want to leave my pup alone while traveling. Other than that disappointment, the scenery is beautiful!

    Great time!

One way to do the Gorge trail if you are with your partner or family: doggie group goes on the Indian trail and other folks go on Gorge trail. At point 11, you can switch off.

    Fun afternoon!

Beautiful park! You can take your fur babies on all the trails except Gorge Trail. I loved the park, but not being able to go on the Gorge trail was a bummer.

    Great doable hike with doggies!

You won’t be able to take your dog through the Gorge Trail but the south and Indian one are great to do with your dog.
