Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is less than a 30-minute drive from the strip in Las Vegas. Leashed pets are allowed on dog-friendly trails. Fido must be leashed at all times in the campground areas, and at other developed facilities such as the visitor center, Willow Springs picnic area and Red Rock overlook. Fun experience

Lots of great overlooks and areas to pull off the 13 mile scenic drive. We ended up hiking the Willow Springs trail, which was manageable for our 3-year-old goldendoodle. It was his first hiking experience and he enjoyed all of the new smells. It was pretty hot, so we brought plenty of water and tried to start hiking earlier in the morning to try and avoid as much heat as we could. We did accidentally lock our keys in our car at one of the parking lots and while we waited for AAA, the ranger that was there was really kind and gave our dog extra water from his truck.

Great Place but could be Hot!

This was awesome in March, I imagine it will be way too hot for Odin and most other dogs later in the year.

    Awesome trail

we had a great time with our dog, she did better at climbing some parts that us. wouldn’t recommend for older dogs or dogs with mobility issues.

    Nature and a Pooch

Start with the Visitor Center area. Owners can use the restrooms and fill up with water for your Pooch. All dogs MUST be on a six foot leash. Please pickup after your Dog!

There are plenty of hiking trails from the Visitor Center. We opt for the first stop on the 13-miles drive which is Calico I. Plenty of picture opportunity with short hike down. The trail can be slippery, so watch your step.

There is a trail from Calico I to Calico II. A medium difficulty hike.

Again, bring plenty of water for your pooch and the visitor Center is the only source! Have fun.
