Dog-Friendly Activities in Black Butte Ranch, OR

Located in the Three Sisters Wildnerness area of Williamette National Forest, Proxy Falls Trail offers amazing views of open lava fields and dense forests. This one-way, dog-friendly loop trail brings hikers past the 226 foot veil waterfall that is Proxy Falls. Leashed pets are welcome to join you as you take in the breathtaking scenery along the hiking trail. From McKenzie Bridge, OR, travel east on Highway 126 to Highway 242. Travel east on Highway 242 for 9 miles to Proxy Falls Trailhead.

Metolius River Trail is a pet-friendly path in Bend, OR. It's an easy, 12-mile hike in Deschutes National Forest that will take about 6 hours to complete with Fido. Hike along the river on this flat trail at the base of Black Butte. Mountain bikes and horses are not permitted on this trail, so you can enjoy the hike in peace. Please note that a Northwest Forest Pass is required.

It's a moderately easy, 14.4-mile hike in Three Sisters Wilderness that will take about 8 hours or overnight to complete with Fido. One of the most scenic hikes in Oregon's High Cascades, you will enjoy the splendor of the lakes, lava flows, and a glacier carved valley. The trail is well maintained and marked, with only one section over the lava flow that may be rough on a tender dog's feet. Please note that Northwest Forest Pass required; register for wilderness entry. Dogs must be leashed. Trail is accessible from May through November.
