Dog-Friendly Activities in Lithonia, GA

The Arabia Mountain Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Lithonia! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Arabia Mountain Trail. Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area is a 10,000-acre, pet-friendly open space along a 48-mile stretch of the river in Sandy Springs, GA. Leashed dogs are welcome to accompany you on a visit to this large forested park where you can enjoy hiking, biking, rafting and fishing. Take Fido for a stroll along a woodland trail and then reward him with a swim in the river after. Please remember to clean up after your pup during your visit.

Rabbit Hill Park Dog Park in Dacula, GA, offers dogs a safe, off-leash place to play and socialize. The park offers lots of trees, shade, grassy spaces and some obstacles. There are separate spaces for small and large dogs, as well as a third space reserve for running. Pet parents even have sitting areas both in and out of the shade. Please be sure to leash Fido outside of the dog park.

Stroll through the dog-friendly Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta for an on-leash walking tour of this 22-acre urban greenspace opened in 1996, which was the year Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympic Games. Let your dog cool off in the Fountain of Rings, the world’s largest interactive fountain featuring the Olympic Ring symbol, and stroll by the SkyView Atlanta Ferris wheel. Bring Fido for some off-leash fun at Harbins Dog Park, located within the larger, pet-friendly Harbins Park in Dacula, GA. The dog park is divided into three separate, fenced areas, including one for small dogs and another for larger pups. This park features agility equipment, a covered bench and a water source during warm months to fill up Fido's bowl. Dogs owners are allowed no more than three pets per visit, they must keep their dog under voice command, clean up after them, fill any holes Fido digs and make sure your pup is wearing a current rabies tags. After the dog park, you and your leashed pup can explore the trails throughout Harbins Park.

Leashed dogs are welcome at Big Trees Forest Preserve, a pet-friendly old-growth forest in Sandy Springs, GA. You and Fido can explore the network of trails, babbling brooks and the native trees and flowers that are protected in this preserve. Waste bags and receptacles are found throughout the preserve, making it easy to clean up after your pup. Please do not let Fido dig holes anywhere on the preserve, and remember to stay on the trails.

Outrun Brewing Company is a pet-friendly brewery in Stone Mountain, GA, with a nostalgic vibe. Fido is welcome both inside the taproom and at outdoor tables. Located in a retro-fitted gas station, the brewer-owned taproom offers a rotating lineup of highly drinkable ales, crisp lagers, fruit-forward sours, and experience-driven originals, all brewed on site and available exclusively in the taproom.

Leashed dogs are welcome at Oakland Cemetery, a pet-friendly historic site in Atlanta, GA. The cemetery is Atlanta's third largest green space and features historic art, architecture and local lore that you can explore with your pup. Fido is welcome to join you in the cemetery, but please make sure he stays off the monuments and you clean up after him.

Cultivation Brewery is a dog-friendly taproom in Norcross, GA. Leashed dogs are welcome inside and outdoors, where Fido will be welcomed with open arms and provided with water bowls. They offer a variety of craft beers that are constantly changing on their weekly menu. On select days, they host local food trucks and are located a half mile from downtown to get food delivered.

Brook Run Dog Park offers 4-acres of wooded and fully-fenced space where off-leash dogs can play in Dunwoody, GA. There are multiple seating areas throughout the park, as well as water stations and waste stations. There are also multiple entry points, but each features a double-gate to keep all dogs safe and secure. The shady dog park is located towards the back of the larger pet-friendly Brook Run Park. The Krog Street Tunnel allows leashed dogs to wander through with their owners and take photos or create a picture of their own. Leashed pets are welcome to join their owners on Camp Creek Greenway in Lilburn, GA. This pet-friendly, multi-use, ADA-accessible trail spans just over four miles. Whether you're visiting for a leisurely walk or a workout, you and Fido will enjoy this route, which includes boardwalks, bridges, picnic areas, rest areas and wildlife.
