The Pequonnock River Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. The park has a separate area for small dogs, and beautiful trees and large boulders for inquisitive pups of all sizes to investigate. Features also include fountains, comfortable benches for humans, pet waste stations, and agility obstacles. A supply of tennis balls and frisbees is usually available. Jared's Dog Park is open to Stratford residents.

Leashed dogs can join you on a walk along Savin Rock Trail, a scenic pet-friendly paved boardwalk along the beach in West Haven, CT. However, please note that dogs are not permitted on the beach and a resident parking pass is necessary to access convenient parking.
